About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

River Falls
I was only able to play nine holes due to back spasms. Can golf now issue me a rain check for nine holes.
Better then I remembered
Each hole has its own scenery and feel. A different shot each time.not just drive down the middle and a wedge in. Whether it's a lake next to the fairway, a 20 foot rock wall next to the green, flora...whatever each hole offers a different look and feel. Each hole is it's own seperate space as well. A must play for the area.
Way toooo sloooooww play
Course is in OK shape, fairways are best. Greens were bumpy and sandy, so the reads weren’t as true. I’d like to play again under better conditions.
However, the pace of play was painfully slow. 5 hour round! I suggest staff goes to 15-min tee time spacing because 10 is too short. Need a ranger out there moving people along, respectfully. Waited 5-10 minutes at every tee box and at most fairways from hole 4 onward.
Not much grass on most Tee boxes.
Greens were slow.

Average Course in the Area
River Falls is an average golf course in the Spartanburg area. The layout is a bit crazy and the condition of the course isn’t great with some dead spots on the greens, inconsistent green speeds, and hard dirt spots around the course. However, Doug in the pro shop is the best and is sure to put a smile on your face every time you walk in! If you want to play a different layout though, River Falls is for you but I would wait for a hot deal because at full price it is not worth the cost compared to other golf courses in the area.
Great shape
Played a Friday afternoon round and course was in great shape. Pace of play was a little slow but glad to see the course busy. As usual the course was in great shape
Fun layout
Some of the greens have small fungus patches, but overall very nice in good shape and reasonable to play

Stopped by for an afternoon round on my way back home to the Myrtle Beach area. Layout was fantastic!! Lots of great holes on this course! Will definitely be back!! Beware - greens are extremely FAST!!!
Tough course that’s in great shape.
Considering a week ago at this time we were in the 20’s for a high temp the course and greens are in great shape. Fast and smooth so you can still score if you can hit the shots and stay out of trouble.

Need To Think About Your Shots
The staff was courteous and accommodating. The course was in very playable conditions, only a few areas of casual water with nearby relief. Greens rolled true and were painted and rough was recently mowed. There is much challenge from the tees and fairways with elevation and slope. I play 5300-5500 yards with an 18 handicap. This course is exceptional during spring and summer. I've played River Falls at least four times in different seasons.

The staff were great. We really enjoyed our time and you could tell they really enjoyed the younger crowd playing the course. I still think this is one of the best courses in the upstate if you enjoy variety in elevation play.

Fantastic Greens
Course is in great shape. Fairways are good. Tight lies and greens were excellent. Best greens I have played in this area so far. Healthy - fast - true.
