The Olympic at Gold Mountain Golf Course
About
Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington offers two championship courses, the Olympic and Cascade, both of which are known as two of the best public courses in the greater Seattle area. The Olympic Course is the more challenging of the two with more hills and water hazards. Dramatically sculpted from the thick Pacific Northwest forest, the driving corridors are surprisingly generous. Towering evergreens line the fairways and there are significant elevation changes throughout, making it a complete workout to walk the course. The layout's most challenging element is the undulating greens, which are often guarded by bunkers and mounding. The final four holes are the most memorable featuring a combination of water, trees, and stunning views. The final hole on the Olympic Course is a drivable par 4 that is the perfect finish to your round.

Confusing rules
Beautiful course and layout! Very wet and chilly but sunny! Told to keep cart on paths only! Started on 10th great pace after turn another story! Play bogged down even with observing groups driving carts all over the fairways! Not sure what the deal was no fun waiting on every hole! Staff was very cordial!
Trip for every penny
Worth the drive from Vancouver. Would be more fun second time around. Highly recommended.
Perfect
All aspects top notch:
Best public Greens you will find.
Course in absolute perfect condition
Driving range, putting greens and pitching practice areas are not to be missed
My go-to course in the NW!
Always a pleasure to play at Gold Olympic. Although the course is challenging, the set-up, conditions and service is always better than par.
Beautiful, Challenging Track
Gold Mt Olympic Course continues to rival all courses in our area for beauty, layout, and design. Very challenging, but always fun and a wonderful golf experience. Golf Now offers some very competitive rates if you are willing to play outside the prime days/times parameters.
HATES GOLF NOW
GOLD MOUNTAIN DOES NOT LIKE GOLF NOW PLAYERS AND DO NOT HONOR TEE TIMES FOR GOLF NOW PLAYERS. LOVE THE COURSE. THE CASCADE SIDE IS MORE PLAYER FRIENDLY . HAVE PLAYED SEVERAL TIMES AND WILL BOOK WITH THEM THE COURSE,FROM NOW ON.
If any course could convince me to move, it's this one
I can't wait until my kids are out of school. I'm moving to kitsap county.
That's all I have to say.
I could rave about this amzing course and the kind people on the peninsula for a page, but no need. I don't want to ah are this secret beyond what I've already done.
This is how TRUE gold, I mean golf, should be done.
Great Outing on the Cheap
Played the course for the first time through a GN Hotdeal. I arrived an hour early and utilized their practice facilities including driving range, chipping area, bunker, and putting areas. These areas were perfect and provided for a good warmup. The course was lush green even for later July. The fairways are rolling and landing areas fairly narrow. There is few water and bunker hazards protecting the greens, but there is plenty of deep ruff and steep terrain around the greens to offer plenty of problems. Surely would play again especially at the rate I paid.
Worst Pro Shop I have ever encountered- avoid if you are from out of town
Booked a 07:16 tee time through Golf Now, very excited about playing Olympic course after reading reviews. Drove 1.5 hours from Seattle to course, checked in, hit range balls, was getting ready to go to the tee box when I was told I was to join another single going off 10- did not think much of that and played a very quick 9 as we were the only two on the back. Got to the front and was told that they could not accommodate us on the front. We could wait for an undetermined amount of time or we could play one of the 9's on the Cascade course which is referred to the hackers course.
I went to the pro shop to protest, and was actually told by one of the staff it was actually my fault for playing too fast, they had not planned on us being in until later. When I told the pro I did not pay to play a second rate course, he told me I could take it or leave it. I left it, I will make calls on Monday. One of the other staff told me this is becoming regular at this course as they overbook and split people on each course.
I say if you pay to play a course, you should be allowed to play it, and make the turn fluidly.
Great overall golf experience
Funny(ish) story, when I started my round at Gold Mountain, my wife and I went through our usual routine for this trip of selecting the tees I’d play based on rating, slope and distance; from what we read, we decided to play the blues (it was in the wheelhouse of the 120-125 slope we have been playing). As it turns out, it’s important to pay attention to which course you are playing as the 122 slope for the Cascade course is not the same as the 135 of the Olympic (the actual course I was playing). A few holes in, as I was commenting that this course seemed to play a bit tougher than its slope, we discovered this mistake.
That preface is necessary because I probably played the most complete round of golf I have played in some time, and still shot about 6 strokes worse than the scores I’ve been posting lately. The Olympic Course, at least from the blues, demands no less than your best if you want to post a decent score. That is not to say it is overly punitive or gimmicky in a way that will frustrate; it is simply long and complex enough to create issues for a bogey golfer who isn’t on top of his game.
The first thing I noticed (and really liked) was the high grass at the top of most of the bunkers. While the majority of the traps are smallish and fairly playable, the grass does add an extra dimension. Further, I actually had a tougher time playing out of that elongated rough the one time I was in it than either of the times my ball graced the traps.
The course is as beautiful as it is challenging and makes good use of its surrounding trees, water, and natural elevation changes to increase the value of both its aesthetics and playability. The short (271) finishing hole includes all of these elements and arguably the heaviest bunkering on the course as well. I teed off with a 7 iron and still almost hit it too far (admittedly I pulled the ball a little too far to the left trying to avoid the water front right). Fortunately my ball stayed in the yard and I was left with a wedge into the green. A little discipline is necessary here as it would be easy to grab too big a club and wind up out of bounds.
The par 3’s which range from 137 to 227 (downhill) are a good indication of the variety of shots required to navigate the course, as I used anything from a pitching wedge to my 3 wood to reach these greens in regulation. Ultimately, this round allowed (forced?) me to use every club in my bag except my 64 degree wedge (and you could argue I should have used that at one point, I just lacked the confidence to do so).
The pace of play was great as far as I can tell. I went off first as a single, but a group of two right behind me and a similar group behind them never lost touch. As I chatted with some folks near the clubhouse, the subsequent groups rolled in on time as well. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, adding to the overall experience.
I would recommend Gold Mountain to anyone with the chance to play it; and, since I have cause to visit the Seattle area fairly often, am sure I will play it again.
