Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort
The golf course at the San Marcos Golf Resort boasts an impressive list of past players that includes presidents and celebrities. The golf course is nestled on a property in downtown Chandler that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it has a desert landscape, the course is still lush with a canal that runs through it, a lake, and plush Bermuda grass greens, the former two creating water hazards that come into play on several holes. The San Marcos Golf Resort course is challenging with each hole having at least three bunkers. The two most difficult holes on the golf course are two lengthy par 4s, the fourth and the 10th.

Course is in great shape
I've always liked playing here but sometimes the conditions are a bit rough. This year their overseed has come in quite well...greens are nice...price is right...pace of play is well managed. Kudos for the good job to the staff here. Will be on our regular rotation this winter.
A Course That Reads its Golf Now Reviews
It never ceases to amaze me how in over-seeding season especially, people just saunter out onto course after course and find themselves disappointed by slow greens and "cartpath-only" conditions. Read a review or better yet call the pro shop. I have reviewed San Marcos not too long ago and mentioned the considerable sum of money sunk into it in recent years in a successful effort to "bring it back". I am pleased to report that the staff continue to work on improving the golf experience while keeping rates amongst the more reasonable in the Valley. This time out we noticed the bunkers had been given extra attention by the greenskeepers which is important as they guard almost every green and catch any and all errant shots. The fairways, tee-boxes and greens were all in very decent condition for this time of year. The staff, as always, were helpful and friendly.
This is an "old school" Phoenix track that will never see the front cover of Golf Digest. But if you want a nice round of golf amidst wide fairways lined with old trees with a decent variety of shots called for, this is your course.
Course was good condition.
Given the time of the year the course was in good condition. Greens were bumpy but not bad. Good food in the restaurant. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Give the course a try and I’m su4e you will enjoy it.
Very wet conditions
There hasn't been any rain to get the course as wet as it is, so there must be a problem with the sprinkler system.
There were areas on the fairway and in the rough that I thought should be roped off so that we didn't drive through them, I'm always respectful of the course, but there were times that we were in the water before I realized it. The wet conditions made the course play even longer than usual as there was no "roll" on most shots. It was still an enjoyable day, but they have some work to do.
Nice course and a good layout. Staff was very friendly. A good value for the money.
Long Par Fours, Flat Course
I've reviewed this course before. The course is one of the oldest parkland-style courses in Arizona. The course is flat and without any elevation changes. Several holes are crisscrossed by irrigation canals that you have to navigate though none is a significant obstacle. Conditions are fair to good throughout.
The course is in great shape, we moved through quickly. There was a twosome a couple groups in front of us that were just drink and not really playing, but they were kicked out and everyone finished the round.
Nice Old Course
This is a relatively short and straight golf course. Typically play from the tips, and only measures just short of 6,700 yards. The course is usually in pretty good shape, although at the moment, the greens are slow due to the punching and sanding of the greens recently. I like this course; it's a confidence builder. The greens should speed up over the next few weeks.
greens still healing from being punched
no range, waste land that could be used for range...ranger was rude...course still has potential just get a range much better parking
Was my first time playing San Marcos and I loved it. Itwaslong and open course and the greens had a pretty good speed. I love the course and I look forward to going back soon
