Really good course!

We booked one of there deals on there website and played at 12 for $30+tx. If you sign up for their text offers you they set you up with a 20% off code. We drove down from Flagstaff. Golf shop and course staff were very friendly. Pace of play was good and the grass was green on the fairways and the greens were good for the time of year. The rough was thin and would have helped on this desertesque style course but its winter. The layout was cool and had variety including elevation changes on a few holes. The golf shop even allowed us to play a few extra even tho we offered to pay. I appreciate they recognized we drove down and didn't ask how much we paid or if we got a deal for our first round. They just said go have fun. That is great customer service. Obviously I'm not looking to get free holes everytime now but It's hard to believe so many people give this place such a bad wrap. Yes the bar was closed and amenities were limited but it's gonna take time to get things back to normal plus it was Tuesday! Since the start of the pandemic I've called the courses ahead of time and asked what was available and then planned accordingly like a responsible adult. Places out in these rural areas have to charge a bit more and provide a little less in some areas during these times, they just have to. Get over it then support itself! We were satisfied completely and look forward to driving down and playing here often. Stop at Gs Burger for a strong cocktail and great burger afterwards. Fairways and greens my fellow humans.

I have played this course many times, but the condition of this course right now is the worst that I have seen it. The tee boxes were in terrible shape to the point of having to find a spot that wasn't torn up, the fairways were average, the rough was mostly dirt hardly any grass. It is in deperate need of work to bring it back to where it once was. I will not spend $50-55.00 to play it again. I would rather drive over to Sedona and play one of the two courses over there and pay a little more money and not tear up my clubs.

New owners, same crappy course

Played this course a handful of times over the years cause my buddy lives up there, he said they had new owners and the place was better......well he was wrong.

Where to start....
They are closing for overseeing next week, but already scalping the course. We had a mower cut the grass down to dirt on the tee box right in front of us as we were trying to play, they don't get out of the way. And dirt and dust just flying in our face.
Luckily he had already done the holes in front of us, but didn't put any tee markers back.

Carts are horrible, first one we had squeeled everytime we hit the gas, traded it in for another cart at the turn that we had to push up the hills. Cart paths were horrible, big pot holes that people have been driving around for years.

Restaurant was closed, they had cold beer, but half the drafts were out. Only hotdogs for food, but they were out of those as well.

Whoever cut the cups was asleep, on the side of holes, most of the greens were okay, but some had some summer wear and they put the cups right in the middle with so many better options. Also, just being picky now but a couple of the cups were slanted and not cut deep enough so the cup was at the surface of the grass.

The place looked run down, and they were offering summer rates so the price was cheap, but you still don't get what you pay for. Can't believe they don't shut it down to do the course overseeing like all the courses in the valley.

I guess one of the owners is a superintendent, but it's hard to tell by playing the course that anyone cares about it. New owners maybe, same crappy experience.

Hoped for much better!!!

Decided it would be fun to get off of the beaten path to try a course. Found this one and with the location thought it might be getting into better shape this time of year due to monsoon rains. Found out we were wrong. Tee boxes were fair at best, cart paths and fairways were so rough it was terrible, and fairways had so little grass you were better off shooting for the rough to at least have a little grass under the ball. Greens were very good for the most part and we were able to make several nice shots due to easy stopping conditions. Would recommend sending some of the water used on the greens out to the fairways to get them in better shape. Bartender was friendly and helpful, but the guy in the pro-shop had the personality of a boot. When we got back from our round my wife needed to use the restroom and caught him just as he was rounding the corner to leave. She asked if he could let her use the restroom and he said no because he did not have the keys as he was dropping them into his pocket. For a few dollars more and a lot shorter drive you will find much better playing conditions.

The tee boxes and “fairways” were in horrible condition from lack of watering. The greens, however , were in very good condition.
The course could be easily improved with watering care to the fairway.

Agree, the side areas, areas by homes, cart trail are loaded with weeds and wild brush. If they want to compete with Sedona Golf clubs, they have got to clean the place up.

Get ready for a bumpy ride

The cart path was incredibly bumpy, as was much of the front of the fairway - like a cattle pasture. In several places there was no signage as to which way to go and we ended up in the desert. We only played here because Sedona Golf Resort and Oak Creek were booked. Not worth playing this course in my opinion..

Interesting Course Layout

Played May 28th with two members. Formerly Verde Santa Fe fell into rough shape. Course layout is interesting with no two holes alike with many elevation changes and blind shots. Greens, fairways and most tee boxes in pretty good shape. Very hot the day I played and if not watered frequently, the course will deteriorate rapidly. The golf carts, gas powered, have some age on them. I'll play the course again but in cooler weather.

Walked

Good value at this hidden gem

Played on a Saturday afternoon and pretty much had the place to myself other than a couple of twosomes. I finished in less than 3 hours with no waiting. This course used to be known as Verde Santa Fe.

One interesting thing about the layout is that there are no bunkers at all on the course. There are some hidden ditches/washes you have to be aware of on some shots, but there are signs on some of the tees, and a golf GPS will have the distances to them. Hole 18 has a pond to the right of the tee shot that is hidden from the white tee box.

I walked the course. The course has quite a bit of gradual elevation change, but the greens and tees are generally pretty close except maybe for the walk from 9 green to 10 tee.

Apparently new ownership took over last year and has been trying to improve conditions. This fall's overseeding job was excellent, they overseeded a pretty wide area around the greens as well. A very thorough job whereas some other courses cheap out on the green surrounds. The greens today were very smooth and quick. I was very impressed with them. You can tell this course was neglected in years past due to some scruffy areas around the perimeter of the course and in between holes, but they aren't really in play anyway. The course does run through a housing development, but the houses are set back far enough to not really be in play.

Overall I think this course is an excellent value if you can't or don't want to pay double to play one of the two public courses by Sedona.

Bad shape!

The course is in the worst condition ever. Dead grass, weeds and rocks everywhere. Carts and cart paths that beat the crap out of you. Rates that are WAY TOO HIGH!!! This course should be no more than 30 dollars. Barely even playable , literally seems like they don’t water or do any work on it. I just don’t get it.

Excellent in beautiful setting

After playing 3 equivalent courses in Vegas, I choose this course. Excellent greens and fairways for which the Superintendent and staff are to be commended. A very nice layout for me (HC 20) that didn't present as many hazzards as I expected. But a bit of planning is required. And, I felt so good that I'm convinced it's located in a newly discoved Vortex. In any event, I will play this course many more times over the more highly priced 'scenic' ones in Sedona. If you are here for golf play this course and take your red rock pictures seperately. Very friendly Proshop and restaurant staff. A great day out.
