Quailwhuuuuuuuuutttttt?!?!
I had the privilege to play this course yesterday and was caught off guard by the ease of my birdie on hole 1, and how fast my play was all around! the staff was friendly, the course was in great condition and I was happy to play this course and am looking forward to playing it next time.
Nice course design but below average course conditions
While my wife and I were on our annual “escape the heat” trip from Phoenix to Prescott, we stopped to play Quailwood Greens for the first time. The course is not long but a fun track, we found the course design enjoyable but unfortunately the course conditions were sub par compared to other Prescott area golf courses. It appeared that the bunkers had not seen any maintenance for some time (grass growing in most bunkers), the fairways were in average shape (dirt spots, long grass, and rutted), and the greens were patchy in many areas (but seemed to roll okay). The pace of play was good for the front nine (under 2 hours) but things came to a slow crawl on the back nine (2 1/2 hours + as we were stuck behind the men’s club so we were not allowed to play through). Fortunately, we were paired with a local Dewey resident Robert which made the round very fun and enjoyable. At the end of the day, we loved the design but not the course conditions. The walking rate was extremely affordable so we cannot complain about the value. If you decide to play, expect a course that is rough around the edges, good value, and nice people. I hope that in the future, the management will give the course a little TLC!
Fun day
My playing partner had a hole in one on the 13th hole. At 77 it was a thrill of a lifetime for him. Never had one myself.
Decent course for a below average player. I enjoy it and will play multiple times in the future. If you are less than a 15 handicap pass on this one.
Great day of golf
This course is in pretty nice shape. Some tall grass in some areas but no really bad rough. Trees can come into play on several holes. Greens were in good shape and the golf carts seem to be fairly new. Pace was very good, 18 holes in less than three hours.
a great day of golf
this course was in really nice shape. we had a beautiful day. the layout of this course can be a little confusing. so watch all the signs and you'll know where you're going. many improvements since the last time I played about 6 or 8 months ago.
Great course for the money
This is a great little course in Dewey Humbolt. Lots of par 3's, a few 4's and 5's. Course was in great shape lots of trees. We arrived an hour before our Tee time and asked if we could go out early but was told no because we had gotten a "hot" deal; although the course was not busy and there was plenty of open tee times.
Nice little course.
Course still a little rough. Still early in the season, but crew working to get it in shape for the upcoming season.
Good value for the money. Booked through Golf Now. staff of Golf Now very helpful.
Great for beginners
Had a great time. Course is under renovations some tee boxes are being replaced and the back 9 was being aerated but over all a good course to play. We don’t need anything fancy. For the price.... Great!
Improving!
It's been about 1 month since I last played this course. The effort to improve is showing. The fairways and greens have been aerated so they will get better. There is new sand in all the bunkers. A couple of the teeboxes are being resodded. With the weather improving the fairways are starting to green up. Ownership is showing an effort to make the course more playable and enjoyable. The potential for a fun course is there.
Course is trying to get in better condition and it shows. Keep up the good work!!
WHAT A NIGHTMARE !!!
You get what you paid for and it was exactly what the reviews were spot on add a terrible Marshall group hitting into us twice not yelling fore.
TWO WORDS : STAY AWAY!!! When you read the review on GolfNow.com you tend to believe some of them, But playing there first hand was living proof how bad it is.
Most affordable course in the area.
Forgiving course and great 19th hole. New carts and upgrades.
Somewhat improved
Having played this course many times, mostly due to ability to get on as a single and the price, I remain disappointed. The course recently purchased a new fleet of carts, but the money would have been better spent on improvements to the course. The teeboxes are still hardpan dirt and many of the greens are not in great shape. However, I noticed that most of the sand in the traps is being replaced, so perhaps they are moving in the right direction. That's the hope- the course has a lot of good potential- it just needs to be fulfilled.
Tee Boxes and Other
I have played this course a lot of times and always enjoyed the rounds until recently things are changing. There is an obvious lack of maintenance in many areas. The tee boxes are a disaster with little to no grass on many of the boxes and have to tee off on sand. The practice putting greens are so covered with twigs and pine needles that you need a broom with you to practice. Also the practice holes haven't been changed for weeks and they are all mounded up from being walked around. The driving range also lacks grass to practice on. They don't water the course until it is hard as a rock. The sand traps are never maintained and are cement. Last but not least if you get a tee time from Golf Now the course won't let you play with a member unless he pays green fees. Not good! Why would you become a member? Really a little maintenance would make this golf course great. I recommend this course but the quality of play has gone down.
Quailwood golf course
Have always loved this course but it wasn't in the greatest condition this time. The fairways were extremely dry and some of the greens in bad shape. Still like the course and will return.
sad
Had prepaid for two round at this course. Hoped 2nd time would be prepared. The man at the front desk was a total jerk. My husband had misread our tee time and he nastily told me we had to wait for our tee time even though there was no one playing. Then when we finally got to go the pace of play was horrendous. The tee boxes are dirt. The greens are miserable. We decided you get what you pay for. We would have gladly traded these two rounds for one higher priced round. Would never go back.
