Good Course
Have played in other years but this was first for 2014. They raised the rates this year because they have been underpriced for years. This has some locals carping. They don't get it that if you lose money each year on a course you can't afford to keep it up or even keep it. It is priced consistently with similar courses. Anyway, it is in good shape. Made it through the winter well. Has some nice elevated holes and beautiful scenery. I will bring friends here.
Awesome course
Played on a Friday and I pretty much had the course to myself. Friendly staff, great lay out of the course. Only problem is some holes had yardage sticks and some didn't. Also hard to find the sprinkler heads. Fairways and greens were excellent no dead spots. Some fairways were tight and challenging. Carts were pretty new. Overall had a great time and I would go definitely go back.
Tough short course, really good conditions
This course is tough for what it is. Requires some skill on the greens. If you don't know how to read and putt you will struggle here. Conditions are really nice and needs very little to make perfect. Could use a little more speed on the greens but otherwise plays great. Price is what it is. High for locals and high for tourists. Lots of people seem upset just because they can be. We are all mad about the prices but hey it's the times we live in now so either play the game and appreciate or simply don't. The pro shop is lacking and I saw only one personnel the whole time, just in the shop. No rangers, starters, or guest service. If you get a chance eat at Jakes, it's highly recommended. Don't waste your time/gas going to elephant rocks take 35 minutes speeding and is only like $10-15 cheaper. It is in barely ok conditions that can deteriorate quickly this time of year. Some bad decisions made for this season, so we will just have to wait and see what happens.
Great views
Challenging course for right-handed players and friendly staff.
Could care less about the golfers
2014 will be the demise of continental country club. This course is a locals course and the only public course in town. In 2014 continental has welcomed golfers by nearly doubling their rates, doing away with course rangers, and increasing the prices at the range dramatically.
Don't expect a single amenity for your $75 round either. No one will be there to clean your clubs, greet you at the car, make sure your round takes less than 6 hours, BUT rest assured if you play in the afternoon someone will be there to pull the pins regardless of how many people are still playing and how much daylight is left. I've played numerous times is no pins because apparently it was quitting time.
The course itself is maybe on its best day a $40 course. The greens could be used as a mini golf course with no modifications. I've seen 3 handicaps 7 putt greens because they are so unplayable in places. You'll also frequently get a 12 inch breaking putt when you're only 3 ft away from the hole. If you miss you'll be presented with at least a 12 footer.
For 2014 you will also now be presented with number 10 as your first hole. After playing this course for 25 years there is no worse idea. Expect an extra 30 minutes on your round just due to this one change and the increased time a 'cold' golfer will spend looking for balls on these extremely tight holes.
One thing I will give this course a thumbs up for is its ability to pad your handicap. Ob stakes are literally in the rough on this course, on EVERY single hole. One marginal bounce, one slightly errant swing, one gust is wind and your teeing up your third. Ob is closer on this course than any course I've ever seen. It's so close is not fun.
Finally if your swing speed is over 100 just leave your driver at home. There is no need to hit it on more than 1 hole unless your just screwing around.
Overall I will never play this course again unless the rates return to a normal level. It's not worth what they are charging.
Drive to Williams for a course that is ten times the quality and less price, even with gas for the drive. Or get on flag ranch. Their weekday guest rate is the same at continentals rate. That course is 20 times the quality in every way.
Fun course
The eighth hole is one of my favorites anywhere. Course is excellent condition this early in the year
Course still under way
Staff was great. Food cooked great. Fairways were awesome. Tee boxes and greens still under weather treatment some I felt like I was at the beach in so cal. Other Parts of the course still under weather treatments and construction.
Overall it was a good day of golf for the beginning of the season.
Best prices were on golf now, felt the house prices were too high for the condition of the course so far.
early spring conditions
The course is in average shape for this time of year (early spring). Greens are very bumpy and slow. New higher prices = few people = fast play.
Beautiful scenery.
The course was in very good condition, lighting fast and firm greens, and beautiful vistas of the mountains. Would definitely play it again if in the area.
Well maintained but short
Very well maintained course, great layout, short but very challenging greens.
Way too slow.
It was a weekend but if a marshal was to urge groups to keep up, experience would have been much better.
OVER PRICED!!!!!!!
At the most this golf course is a $40.00 course. They are the only public course in Flagstaff Az , so they charge this outrageous amount. If you want a fair price I would recommend Elephant rocks golf course which is a 20 min drive west of Flagstaff in Williams AZ.
Nice overall golfing experience.
We have played Continental CC in the past, and have always
Enjoyed our round, and yesterday was no exception. The greens
We're in great shape, and had some good speed to them. We
Played in 4 hours, and had a wonderful golf experience. We
Will be back to play again when we are in Flagstaff.8
Beautiful Views
This golf course is narrow and a lot of fun. We needed a warm up round before playing forest highlands and it did not disappoint.
Nice course.
Well conditioned, challenging. With no GPS, course could use more distance markers. There were not enough of them and there did not seem to be a method for where to find them.
For those of us from other states, make certain you check for water when you see a bridge...if it is dry go for it rather than lay up.
Nice
Nice people, nice, course, nice time. What's left to say? I will play there again.
The greens are challenging, fairways fairly narrow
I played this course with a friend and we both agreed that it was a great course with some challenges - narrow farrows and challenging greens; and the day we played some real interesting pin placements!
Fun Course
Course was in fantastic condition. Greens were fast and challenging. Course was fairly short, but had some interesting holes with tight fairways and elevation changes to keep you honest. Staff was friendly and prices were reasonable. Weather was perfect.
Oustanding condition
Really enjoyed getting out of the heat of Phoenix to come up to play but didnt expect to find the course in such pristine condition, Not sure if it was the recent rains that helped it or just good management but I was very impressed. Good job
Best public course in Northern Arizona!
Best course in Northern Arizona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
