This is run of the mill kind of course. You play and forget about it in a couple of day. Nothing standout. If you have some time to kill and are looking for something close by. This might be it.

Nice little town golf course

We enjoyed the hospitality at Stono Ferry especially from the restaurant workers and the starter who really helped us get off early to make sure we got to the airport early for our flight home. As for the course it was in good condition and the view from the 14th tee was worth the trip. The layout is interesting and a lot of the fairways seem to get more generous the further you hit the ball I.e. The 15th hole a hard dogleg left that visually looks intimidating off the tee with a tight looking shot but when you get to the fairway you see it is wide open. Beware of the trees that lean over the first cut and fairways as they will grab your ball and throw it back.

Great round

Played at Stono Ferry on a cool cloudy Monday. As a result course wasn't busy and I was sent out as a single. Played the whole course without seeing another person in front of me and really enjoyed myself. Payed $72 for the round. The guy in the pro shop was very nice and helpful. There was no one at the bag drop so I loaded up my on stuff on a cart and took off to the range. After hitting a few the ranger sent me on my way. Course was in great winter shape. Fairways were over seeded and greens were in good shape. A couple were a bit then, number 11 comes to mind. But they rolled really good. The front 9 is a good course. But nothing special. Some interesting angles and relatively tight fairways. The whole course is a good mix of tight and open, long and short, and big and small greens. I would say that most of the tee boxes were narrow and not a lot of teeing ground. The back 9 is what you pay for. While the front is nice the back is really cool. Couple of holes with some historical significance. Couple holes right on the river. Very cool holes. A couple holes on the back, I think 14 and 15. Maybe 13 and 14 you actually carry part of the river on your tee shot. Biggest complaint was the dadgum carts. The floor, steering wheel and seat were slick. Hands and feet kept slipping getting into and out of the cart. All in all it is a great course and a super cool round.

Stono Ferry

Excellent course outside of Charleston. Holes were challenging with varied layout. Played on Thanksgiving and staff was still very friendly. The back nine is very impressive with a little history thrown in on a couple holes.

All by myself...

Beautiful day, beautiful course, I never even saw another golfer. This may be out of the ordinary but wow. Peaceful, some awesome holes over some marshland by the river, par 4 and a par three from and isthmus tee box were really beautiful. Pays to be accurate here, not long

Charleston's most undervalued course

Great layout where every hole has character and presents a different challenge. Difficult but fair test as you must work the ball both ways off the tee and the green complexes are undulating. Views are some of the best in the area. One of the best courses in Charleston.

Wish It Were on GolfNow...

Played here straight up as GolfNow tee times here are rare. An historic course winding through the woods and marshes of the low country. Greens were bit thin but rolled well. Island green on #18.

Overrated

With the exception of a couple holes on the river the layout is pedestrian. Greens were bumpy and slow especially considering the time of year when most over seed greens are at their best. I would not go out of my way to play this course again.
