Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

Could be a lot nicer
I really like courses that offer an equal number of par 3 par 5 and par four holes. This course fits that bill and as long as you are in the Fairway and on the greens you are good. Where there course falls short is outside of those areas is very rough, often unkept and not golfing conditions. This course has changed hands many times and currently it feels like all of the maintenance is being done around the clubhouse. Also note that the driving range is virtually non-existent as the course does not own the land. There is a beat up patch to play off of but the landing area is not developed. Staff is friendly...no ranger
improving course
course in very good shape considering that it was recently aerated. bunkers that I observed had real sand.... thank god I avoided them..... I expect a lot of play in the winter if the freeway is completed... 112 temps, so not many golfers but this course always seems to move well.....
Fun track
Really enjoyed playing the course, kind of a Vegas style track. Will play again
For the price you can't go wrong!
Great place to play especial if your a intermediate or beginner player. Greens are nice and fairways are wide.
Very good value.Greens were excellent for this area of Az.
The staff in the clubhouse was not up to par. In the snack area she was not very pleasant so we decided not to eat there.
Course Condition
This course need a lot of maintenance especially watering, there was a lot of standing water on course and there has been no rain for weeks. Fairways are cut too close. There is no difference if fairways and greens. I like fairways with grass that manicures so I can take a divot with the grass just exploding into oblivion.
However for $14.45 you can't complain, but with weather like we have, there is no excuse to not have plush fairways.
Better hit it straight.
The tees, fairways and greens were decent. But just off the fairway is an infestation of holes and uneven rough so the course is unplayable from off the fairway. I do not recommend. Unless you hit all the fairways.
Needs help
Too many uneven areas where you tee off, muddy in many areas, could be better taken care of.
Getting better.
Use to not like the course. To much dirt and mud. It has improved greatly the last 2 years and you can’t beat the price. Wish they did meal tie ins.
Nice greens
This was a awsome day for my bro and i thee greens were great and course was great i will let my mens club know of this and will play there more often thanks for the great day and great service !!!
Course was wet from all the watering. Greens seemed good, but were bumpy. Biggest complaint was standing water and muddy areas.
For the money if you want a course to practice on, this is your course. Not long so as long as you can hit the ball fairly straight you should be able to score decent. Right now with slow greens you can go for the pins and stop the ball. You will not get much roll in the fairways, but since it's not long, that's not a big problem. This is your $10-$20 course, but in time will be that $30 course.
Fair & Playable conditions. No marshal.
Play here everyweek. Good value. Fair condition. This time a fivesome (rare) of young men, two without shirts, one in a tank top & another two in T-shirts. Drinking and very loud. The starter should have known better. No Marshall on the course ever. Hopefully Southern Ridge does not turn into a Ghetto course. Management "BEWARE".
Improved conditions.
Hadn't played this course in about 18 months and was happy to see the conditions ad improved. It still needs some TLC, but it has much improved. Pace of play was great.
Greens were in great condition! That was where it ends. 18 holes of golf and all ball washers were empty except one! Midday tee time and there were only 5 cars in parking lot. Hope the management can get the course back on track.
