Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

Good value
The course is laid out nicely. It's not terribly challenging, but many holes have fairly well-protected greens. The traps were very nice and well maintained. The greens were a little bumpier than I'd like.
Average course
Course conditions average. A good place to practice your game, with no big expectations.
Southern Ridge
Course is very reasonably priced you get what u pay for. Course conditions rather poor but still worth the $20 greenfee.
Well kept-, long course
It was Friday at 11 AM and there was no one around. I played myself so I played the black tees which added approximately 20 to 50 yards per hole. The course was long but the greens were in great shape and even with the heavy rain we had a few days ago, the course was really well drained
JUST OKAY
played here a decade or so ago when new; conditions not much different. standing water & mud, probably from recent rain; ground too hard to allow percolation. very average course, but good value through golfnow. best thing about course is continuous paved cart path to avoid confusion. perfect weather for a "northeasterner"--cool & sunny.
Don't waste your time and money
As you drive up, you see what they call a "driving range". There is some sparse grass for the first 15 yards, then it resembles a construction site. Dirt mounds and sagebrush everywhere. The tee areas are destroyed, fairways are ok but you hit the ball anywhere else, it's all dirt, rocks, and weeds. Greens are ok. We paid $26, which was about $25 too much. Never coming back.
Wide open parkland style course
This west valley golf course is wide open with wide fairways and few trees, Wonderfully playable with large greens of moderate speeds. I much recommend the layout for beginner and moderate players of all ages, Very friendly staff with a full kitchen facility in the clubhouse. Just off Baseline Road and very near the developing South Mountain Freeway. Very fairly priced as well.
lovely day for golf!
Course was in OK condition, tee boxes very hard and fairways pretty soft. Decent place to golf, we drive a long way to get there so the bang for the buck is there.
Course was in good shape. Thought the greens were very good. Had two some in front of us that were waiting on 4some but not too bad for speed. Should have marshal to let group keep up or let groups through
Southern Ridge G.C.
Played the course in the first week of Nov. and it was in pretty good shape compared to previou s years. This time it was not In such good shape but playable and was still a good deal for the price we paid. One very noticeable easy fix was to have ballwashers on all holes. The ball washers that were there were all empty. This is very annoying as they were watering the tee boxes and some other areas which made the course muddy in areas.
No Returns Here!
Southern Ridge looks like it has been nearly abandoned. Maintenance is lacking throughout fairways and rough. The fairways look partially overseeded, and the rough is generally dirt. Greens were OK. There are irrigation leaks throughout the course, so it seemed I was always playing a muddy ball. Slow play due to a 5-some in front of us. I don't recommend this course!
Really wet!
The course was extremely wet. There was no roll on you shots that landed in the fairways. They must have a abundance of water.
Big course
First time playing here and we liked it. Forgiving and some challenging holes. There was some water and mud on some fairways but this is a big course to keep in shape so ya can't fault the crew. Definitely be back.
It was ok
We played the day after Christmas and it was such a nice day out. It started off with a great pace but by the time we reached the 7th hole it was like hitting a wall. Had to wait on every shot and it took 3 hrs to play the back nine. There was no one to push groups along and there had to be at least two-3 groups on each tee box.
The layout was interesting and kind of fun, but think it helped slow things down. Overall not bad. The lady in the restaurant was awesome and the beer was cold.
Water all over
The Fairways had water all over the place around the greens and they played ok but you had muddy balls and culbs who ever said it in good shape needs to put there glass on.
Favorite course
This course has it all. 6 fives, 6 fours, 6 par threes. Best bunkers in the valley and I know this because I'm usually in them. One of my favorite courses to play at.
great value
Slow at first but finally got around a fivesome. Should not be allowed on a golf course ever.
