Apache Wells Country Club
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

We decided to play here again because the pace was great under 4:30 with CPO in November. This time again staff in pro shop were not very friendly or fast checking us in. They had a tournament on the course that was extremely slow and didn’t seem anyone cared about that. First twelve holes was great pace. We quit then because there were people quitting in front of us because there were 3 groups on the next tee and we were going to be the 4th. Would not play here again. Fairways and greens in great shape but no upkeep along walls and boundaries by homes.
Nice course though the staff was rude and would not honor rate booked through GolfNow.
This was our first time playing this course and we found it to be in excellent shape, though the greens tended to be on the slow side. The round was booked as a 9:00 am tee time through GolfNow, however, the day before we were called and informed that there are no 9 am tee times and that our booking should have been for an 8 am shotgun. The tee time booked was supposed to include a $5 lunch voucher, however, when we checked in we were told they would not give us the $5 voucher, and we would have to talk to GolfNow and file a complaint with them.. According to the staff member in the pro shop, “we do not give away free food!” Our booking also indicated we had a remaining charge of $29.00 due at the course. We were taxed an additional $2.33 for each player even though taxes had already been paid. Bottom-line, the course was good to excellent, the booking and staff not so much so.
Excellent conditions....nice layout.....short course
This is a short course in a residential area that caters more to the senior golfer. Conditions were great as we were Day 2 of opening after reseeding. Not much trouble to get into. Zero on course amenities - no ball washers, beverage service, club cleaners at end, etc. Shotgun start 2x a day was a bit odd but we didn't wait on a single hole so pace was great....although not busy at all.
Greens and tee box had long grass after seeding, which is understandable, but the course layout was really flat and boring. I was very surprised the course gets away with charging even $30. I won’t be back there again. Staff was rude.
Great course. Easy course. Great shape. Only complaint i have is that the landscapers have no respect for the golfers. Had 2 of them weed eating while we tee off. I asked them to stop for a minute so we can play and was told no
This course is a fun course. There are four par 5s on the back nine. Nice people playing here. Ice available for your cooler box. Course is in great shape. Had a good time.
Great summer value
The course was in great shape and the best value in Mesa right now, plus a food coupon was a nice bonus
Great course in super shape
Three Of us drove up from Chandler to play this morning. Had never golfed here before, so didn’t know what to expect. Course is in excellent shape and has some good mountain views, especially on the back nine. We are looking forward to coming back.
Nice course, generous fairways, fairly flat. Nice big green, however they had just been punched and sanded. They did not putt well. Will play again when greens are back
Great course conditions
The course is in great shape. The greens are as good as any in the valley. The staff are very friendly and want you to have an enjoyable round of golf. A nice facility.
fairly good course conditions despite the summer heat
The greens were slightly sanded and you needed to adjust for slower putts. On the upside, the ball still rolled fairly true. The fairways were in decent shape considering the hot weather. The course is not too difficult, but it provides for an enjoyable round of golf.
We started around 9:20 am and finished just under 3 1/2 hours.
Well maintained..greens in great shape. Pro shop staff very friendly and accomodating Well worth the $$.
These folks move around the course
Bought it on Golfnow, showed up to find out it was an 8:30 Shotgun start and we were Tee5B. Tee 5A was a fivesome of ladies and I thought "oh jeez". Two of us were walking and two in a cart and we played in just over four hours. And we were lagging well behind the ladies, they really moved out on us. The greens were good, the fairways were good, the tees were good and they had sand in the traps. The only knock is it is a FLAT course but I will surely play it again soon. They have a very nice bar restaurant also. Kiltlifter was $14 a pitcher.
Great course, but was cart path only becauwse of rain on Tuesday night. Thank goodness it is a flat coursse!
