Toka Sticks Golf Club
About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

Great course to play
Outside staff was very professional & helpful. Inside staff was extra nice and very professional. Would like to play again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Enjoyable
One of the nicest affordable courses in the area. My first time playing here and I won't hesitate to come back at this price point.
We followed 6 clowns who sometimes were a 6 some and sometimes a 4 and 2. there was 3 holes empty in front of them. There was no marshal, if there was I am sure he would have kicked them off the course.
There was no sand in the traps.
Overall the course condition was not as good as in the past.
Simple course Moderate Fees
For the money, this was our least favorite course. It winds down and back so there are often other golfers trying to hit in your fairway… and you just might find yourself hitting in the one next door. Greens are small and fast so get ready for some “Annie Annie over” and some double bogeys.
DO NOT PLAY! Staff very rude, pace of play terrible
After waiting on practically every tee, the member's group of 2 behind us drove over our heads when we were chipping on the green.
Staff came, did nothing, and then removed the flags on the 18th hole. It was 6:20.
If I could give this place a -10 I would. One of the guys playing with me has played here in the past and found it ok but with the latest COVID-19 price changes this place is way overpriced and the experience is a 0.
For same price and much better experiences there are several courses in the same area.
Toka Sticks Great Value
Course in great shape, staff friendly, excellent value in the east valley
Beautiful day at Toka Sticks
Weather perfect, course in great shape, an all around bargain!
Nice course, excellent staff!
Staff are amazing! Right from the club drop to the pro shop, snack bar, cart girl to the course maintenance staff I can’t see how anyone could have been more pleasant or more helpful.
Course is in great shape, greens, tee boxes, fairways were all in great shape.
All courses in Phoenix and surrounding area are priced too high this time of year but for this course at the price we paid I was happy.. keep up the great work at this course, we will be back!
Nice, solid place to play
Toka Sticks is a fun course with some nice holes. It is not a desert style course, as is common in Arizona, but more of a parks land course. The greens were in excellent shape and the fairways were nice, too. Several of the tee boxes are in need of leveling. The greens are particularly challenging with quite a few undulations. The course is not cheap by any means but the price of golf in the winter in Arizona has gone up dramatically over the last several years. Comparatively, the greens fees here are reasonable but it’s still a bit of a shock to fork out $100 for this level of course.
Nice course with friendly staff
The course was in excellent condition but the pace of play was a bit slow. The price was high but during this time of year all courses are pricey.
Toka Sticks, worth the time
My foursome enjoyed Toka Sticks. The fairways and greens were well kept. The course is flat and easy to navigate. It has some water on it and a few holes are layed out in a way they challenge your ability to problem solve. Not every swing can be "choose the biggest club and full swing".
The staff was engaging and friendly and they had a nice driving range and practice green to help you warm up.
If you are traveling in Mesa or the East Valley, play a round at Toka Stick.
Much Improved!
They have spent a lot of money to revamp this course! They removed all the reeds in the water hazards which makes it easier to view the greens. The tee boxes were so much better, the greens nicely groomed and the fairways had nice turf to hit off of! The bunkers actually had new sand. Nice new carts with windshields for those cool mornings. The staff is still very nice and accommodating as were the course marshals! Pace of play was perfect and you didn’t feel rushed. Some of the stick palm trees could come down but I imagine they stay as an obstacle. It’s a basically flat course but gives you a chance to work on your skills! Pin placement on these greens were touchy so good putting is a must!
Course in good shape. Staff, cart guys and starter very friendly. No other contact with staff.
Love the new carts
