About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Value for the Money
Course was in decent shape. You always expect the burned out patches this time of year. Fairways were good but could be patchy. The greens were actually in great shape other than #9. They rolled pretty good. Overall I would recommend for a good value.

Pictures are misleading.
Where to start? My suggestion is to stop reading save some time and pick another course. To begin, at check in, one of the 2 guys at the front desk didn’t understand my question about what putting position were they using today, his partner was able to tell me they use the color system. Went to the range and tried to find a space that had a few weeds instead of dirt to warm up on.
First 3 holes went fine until looking for the 4 tee. We drove down a path that took us through some underpass filled with homeless trash and then to a frisbee park. Flipped it around and took a different branch of the road and came to another park, definitely not it. Decided to drive back to the 3rd green and found an unmarked semi worn trail to the 4th. Back to golf and at 10:00 they are mowing the lawns on the front 9, not really sure why, the course was so poorly watered it didn’t have much grass. We did run into 2 great employees, the cart girl and girl working the restaurant were super friendly and helpful. On one hole there was a guy that I can only guess working for the course that was hitting balls from the creek back onto the course and collecting them. Finally at the last hole there was a tree trimming crew with their truck parked in the creek and their workers taking breaks laying down under the trees on the fairway. Maybe in the spring it’s playable, but avoid the summer. I don’t believe I saw any water jugs on the course.

Rough fairways, better rough.
I enjoy the layout of this course. The fairways were in very poor condition, bare or browning. I was better off playing out of the rough, was lush green.

Unfortunately not a good round.
The fairways had little to no grass. Some fairways you were playing off of either dirt or mud. Greens had areas of dead grass to put on. The staff in the clubhouse didn't get off off their stools to greet us. I was in town visiting my sons wouldn't recommend this course but I wouldn't be back, so this review will not mean anything to the staff.

Good conditions with good pace of play
Played here Sunday morning and really enjoyed my round! The weather was hot, but it is Arizona in July, so to be expected. The course was in great shape. Maybe the best I have seen this summer in the valley at this price point. Course played fair. The greens were running a bit slower than I would have expected, but they were perfectly green and the ball actually stayed. The pace of play might have been an anomaly because we got around in less than 4 hours. Overall this was a great course for much cheaper than most around and in good condition. Will be back before the end of the summer.

Pace of play was of course not monitored and was WAY to slow.
No walkers shoujd be allowed with the course that busy on peak days

Long course but can still get in 18 holes in with a 4 to 4:30 tee time! They do a great job of keeping the course up to us it plays better than many others We will keep coming here even after summer is over! The one negative gas carts they are slow but that’s it :)

Great summer golf
3rd time playing here and will be back! Really enjoyable summer golf! The course is long and the terrain is challengjng, but fun! Mature trees along with sand and water make for some course management decisions! There’s no cart girl or ice buckets for water bottles. But there is an ice machine by the pro shop. Excited to play here in the Fall

First timer!
The fairways and greens were well maintained and were recently aeriated. Enjoyed the round with three others who had played the course before. We finished in less than 4 hours. Would definitely play there again.

Fairways were so bumpy and barren you couldn’t even drive at a decent speed. Booked when there were several open tee times before me but got to course and it was packed.
