Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Grand Canyon University Golf Course (formerly known as Maryvale Municipal Golf Course) offers an 18-hole track designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. and built in 1961. The par-71 golf course measures 7,269 yards from the championship tees and is open year-round.
The Bermuda grass Grand Canyon University Golf Course gets plenty of shade during the summer, thanks to several onsite trees, and features flat and wide fairways.
The fourth hole, for one example, is a 160-yard par-3 where you'll have to shoot over the water - and past the brick wall that separates the green from the water.

Front 9 was a little slow, which is to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. Fairways are in great shape, greens were a bit slow but rolled true. Good bargain.
Course is in excellent condition. Too bad the rest of the golf course staff cannot learn from the maintenance staff...Running way behind tee time.....no carts.....when we got carts, they were near dead......nobody really seemed to care. Finished a few holes short in the dark, got back to the bag drop, and there was nobody there!!! Carts all over the place!
Seriously, the course does not have a lot of character, but is fun to play because of the excellent condition of the fairways, greens, and yes...even the bunkers (and there are a lot of them) Just a shame that nobody seems to give a crap about the folks who come to play the course>>>>>>
Great Time at the GCU course
A friend recommended - did not disappoint.
Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a nice layout ...albeit with allllllot of sand traps :)
Enjoyed playing. Was a little surprised when I arrived at course and they switched to cart path only due to overseeding. Was not mentioned on Golf ow which is why I choose this course. Pleasant surprised how quickly we played. Less than 4 hours (cart path only). Course is fun and would definitely play again.
A lot of sand traps protecting tge tough greens. Too tough for a public Course
The course is in great shape but the layout with many traps protecting elevated greens makes the course tough for the average golfer!
Wide open and fun
Great conditions, fairway and greens. Putting surface seemed true however slow. Sand traps were super sized and challenging. Will definitely play again when we return.
Had a good round today with very friendly group I signed up as a single. Staff great and course in good shape with overseeing just complete. Greens in good shape sand traps are deep and tricky.
I played this course regularly when it was a muni. It was always good, now it’s great! Glad GCU took it over. Hope to play here again soon.
Pace if play was slow, but course was in great condition. Green were exceptional!
Conditions were not that good, fairways were like playing on hard pan. Greens were hard, balls bounced and would not stick. I won’t play it again.
Lots of sand traps
Grand Canyon University Golf was in nice shape in spite of fact fairways were being dried out for over seeding - greens were all in excellent shape. Lots of bunkers on this course but at least there is sand in the bunkers unlike many other courses in the Phoenix area!
Fun course, in decent shape for this time of year. Plays long, but fun. Lots of bunkers. Enjoyed my game... Will be back for sure.
Great Weather, Great Course
I have reviewed this course before. Today, the weather was about as nice as it gets in late-September in Arizona. A nice breeze kept temps in a 70s realm most of the afternoon. With recent rains, the course was in superior shape. Greens have always been good to excellent since the GCU renovation. Good weather, good course, good time!!
