Grand Canyon University Golf Course
About
Grand Canyon University Golf Course (formerly known as Maryvale Municipal Golf Course) offers an 18-hole track designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. and built in 1961. The par-71 golf course measures 7,269 yards from the championship tees and is open year-round.
The Bermuda grass Grand Canyon University Golf Course gets plenty of shade during the summer, thanks to several onsite trees, and features flat and wide fairways.
The fourth hole, for one example, is a 160-yard par-3 where you'll have to shoot over the water - and past the brick wall that separates the green from the water.

Interesting course, great facilities
Played here in the winter, but caught a perfect day (75 degrees). The majority of the course has the dormant Bermuda grass, but greens and fairway are in great shape.
Tees can extend as long as you need (7200+) and I really liked the practice facility including a grass range and large chipping area.
Less water, more sand
First couple of years GC was open after redo, the course was in great condition. Greens were firm and smooth.Course now needs some work. Not over-seeding every fairway. Traps need sand. I played for free with GN points, my playing partners pain $75. Never would I pay that much!
Bring the sun tan lotion
Cause there’s sand on every hole! Bunkers were nice and fluffy. Played like real bunkers. But on every hole?!? Guess that’s why they call it a Champ course.
Great test and fair
All the hazards were mostly in site, so I knew where to aim. There are someyardage markers on the fairways, but these were not always easy to find. I forgot to load this course on to my Garmin watch, so I had to rely on judgement that worked out out well in the end.
The faiway bunkers were quite deep, but the sand was firm so not to bad to get out and get some distance as well. The staff were extremely friendly. On the par 3 hole over water take an extra club.
Kamal
Playable course. Quite a few bunkers. Greens were fast and not in a very good shape. Wide fairways .
Disappointing
Layout not bad at all but condition of the course was very disappointing. Some fairways were in abject condition others were sublime!!
Greens were in bad shape.
Big shame and not good value for money.
Pleasant Surprise
After reading a few so-so reviews, on 12-14 we found the course in very good condition, the pace was excellent (4 hours) and price reasonable. Can’t ask for much more
Great course for the money
Can't beat this course for the value. It is always in great shape and has a challenging layout.
good value
First time playing. Staff was very friendly. Course was pretty flat but still challenging. Pace of play was average despite waiting between shots, we were a twosome sandwiched between foursomes. Would play again.
First Time
This was a fun course. Fairways and greens were pretty nice.
Definitely not worth $120. But is there any reasonable priced golf courses in AZ?
This course feels like a nicer Dobson Ranch.
Fast greens and nice tee boxes!
Had a lof of fun playing there. Nice tee boxes and fast green, i dont need anything else to be happy.
Not really a muni...right?
Fun course, even if you catch a few bunkers.
Lots of "go for it" fun
Bring your 3 wood, even from the white boxes
