THIS COURSE HAS CLOSED
THIS COURSE HAS CLOSED. THIS COURSE HAS CLOSED. THIS COURSE HAS CLOSED. THIS COURSE HAS CLOSED.
course has closed
golf course has closed and the property is being turned into a housing project,,,,,,,sad was a great little course that at one time had a first tee project
Nice Muni-like course
Wanted to go back after playing a few years ago. Nice course, good views, staff very nice. Word is they are closing in the next few weeks, for good. Sad anytime a course closes, but especially one that gives a good value.
Great course, great views! Wasn't sure how the course would be on the trek up there but I was pleasantly surprised on arrival. Nice staff, great warm up driving range. Outdoor patio top notch, plenty of ice and water stations. Course is wide open with challenging holes but very forgiving. We had a lefty with a slice and a righty with a slice and each weren't in major trouble on their worst of shots! Great pace of play too.
Interesting Course Layout
Course has wide landing areas that are sometimes shared with other players as some holes are very close together. Errant shots from other fairways are common and "fore" was heard often. Course has some bare areas that could use some TLC, specially where carts merge onto fairway grass from cart paths. Interesting layout with acceptable grooming, not great shape but not bad enough to keep one from coming back.
Nice day spoiled by pace of play
Have played here a few times. Course has always been in decent shape, greens roll well. A reasonable value (I know you get what you pay for!), especially compared to other courses' winter rates. Surprisingly nice views from this urban area. Today's pace of place was awful. They put us out 20 mins late and game was still 5 hrs long. Starter was unphased by our post play comments. Now that rates are dropping, we"ll keep this course on the back burner.
put some money and water on the course
Just a waste of good views and layout... the whole course needs water... the greens were hard and dry, oddly water was sitting in the desert part but no where to be found on the course. Patch work and run off all over the course, by the greens and bunkers was newly laid sod screaming for water. This course could be great but the maintenance and lack of time and effort put into the course conditions was apparent
This course was great! Leaving on the other side of town has always kept us from making the drive but with the great deal caddy deal we gave it a shot and wow. Course condition could have been better but overal was good. Staff was great!
a great value
we play Vistal whenever we visit the area as it is a challenging course for a fair price. It has great vistas of downtown Phoenix and the valley. It feels like no two holes are similar and makes the round interesting.
Good value for money
Course is located in beautiful setting with great views of South Mountain as well as downtown Phoenix! Greens are in great shape, fast but fair. Fairways are good to average. Bunkers are a challenge with poor soil, lumpy and firm. Pace of play could be enhanced with an occasional Ranger coming through to speed it up with a word to the"deliberate" slow player. 4 hour and 45 minutes is entirely too slow in 95 degree weather! All of the staff, from check in to pro shop to beverage cart and snack bar were Top Drawer! Truly a delight in their waiting on us. Thank you for a memorable outing.
Very nice Phoenix course
Vistal is a very nice course that can challenge you. Beautiful views of the Valley of the Sun from many of the tee boxes. Friendly staff, very nice place to spend the day.
I was amazed by the views of this course. The course was in great shape. Greens had a true roll but a little bounce to them. The staff was really nice an friendly. When I play this course again I will respect the iron shot to the greens. I'd recommend clubbing down an running up.
course is OK, great to play, my only thing is the 5 hour and 10 minutes to play it. Makes it very difficult to keep focused, waiting that long between shots, especially in the 95* sun
good course for the money....very picturesque at the base of south mountain & overlooks city of Phoenix.
First time playing Vistal this year. Fairways have grass but somewhat dry and there’s some bare spots here and there. Greens are super dry, don’t hold half the approach shots and do not roll true due to being bumpy. This course does have a great layout and some very scenic views. Most greens are well guarded by bunkers or water and have nice contours to them. Definitely has the potential to compete with some of the areas elite courses down the road if it was well kept up with.
Makes you think your first shot
Plenty of water and sand traps. Just enough to make your round interesting but not too much. Course has little desert, little links style, little bit of trees. It has it all. Sand in the traps gritty but playable for us moderate players. Over all enjoyable. Great shelter to relax after the round.
Always a Good Value
Nice course, always tests your ability. The guys at the Pro Shop always friendly and the same. Always good to see the same crew...year after year. We love playing here, and when in town it is one we always play a couple of times. We'll be back!
Not bad for the money
nice mountian views, drawback is lack of a clubhouse. Small pro shop and outside hot dog stand.
Decent course for the money. Hard greens. Staff was friendly and free cookies were a bonus.
Nice course but very slow play
5 hours to play a round. On the front 9, we waited on nearly every hole with the wait begin two groups deep. The good parts: good price, good views, greens in good shape, good cart service. The bad parts: very slow play, never saw a marshall, occasional ball cleaner, only one water stop per nine. Worth playing once but not sure about playing there again.
