Used to Be Nicer
I played Vistal and it's unfortunately really gone down in condition. It used to be really nice especially when they had the 1st tee program. Fairways and greens need a lot of work. Sad because it is a nice layout. Now just an average course but a good place to work on the game for 39.00
The course is chanelling
Vistal golf course is the best for your money. The best course around. Not good if your just starting. For it being s hard course i got my second best ever.kokopelli was the best so far.iwill be playing it again very soon.
Fair course conditions great day of golf
The courses and pretty fair condition considering they did not overseed this winter the greens are fast and firm, pin placements were challenging and of the sand bunkers I entered were firm as well . The group in front of our group were slow for the first few holes but after 6 holes pick up the pace. All in all a great day, great friends, and most of all another round of GOLF!!
Just another beatiful day in AZ...
great value
This course has some great holes located at the base of south mountain. For winter prices the value. Is outstanding!
Vistal 2015
Have not played it in a couple of years, it was in good shape, not great but playable, certainly worth the money. Just very very slow.
little gem
interesting layout. some pretty scary bunkers waiting to swallow up golf balls. due to location at foot of mountain, some of the greens can be tricky. overall, course was fun to play.
Would like to give a 4, but can't
The course needs work: the fairways are sparse in places, repair patches in other places but no problem playing off them. The greens putt pretty fair, but some have weed problems and need other work to be more consistent, but overall the ball rolls ok. I liked the challenge some greens presented. Staff was nice and kept track of me to make my T time. Course layout is good and is not a housing course, but an actual course. A little tight in some holes, but ok. No strategy holes, but you need to watch your approach shots on most holes.
course review
Good course for the money.fairways could use a little improve ment.
Friendly staff, so-so condition
I've played Vistal many times over the past few years, and the past two times I've been there in the last six months, the quality of the course seems to have gone downhill. The fairways were either wet and squishy, or brown and dry. No longer are they lush and green. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape, and bunkers were in great shape. Range and putting green were in good condition, and the staff member who checked us in was very friendly and knowledgeable. For the price paid, I certainly would recommend the course, though it's disappointing to see how the fairways have gone downhill so much.
Unfortunately, it is slipping in condition.
Vistal is probably the best price in Phoenix this time of year for a "playable" course. Maybe, all that excess play is taking it's toll on the course. It doesn't help that the watering is kept to a bare minimum. I know that you never get really good conditions here, but now, it's teetering on the edge of disaster. I like the staff here. They have always been very nice to me. The food is not bad, a little pricey. I must say, that I hope they do something soon to correct the conditions and the ever increasingly slow play, before they make my goat track list.
Vistal on a Nice Day
Weather was as good as it gets. Course was a little dry, pretty standard for Vistal. Bunkers were OK, but a little thin on sand on some holes. Greens were firm to hard. Putted true. Course was crowded, but pace of play was good. Very little waiting. Round was about 4 hrs. Vistal is a fun course to play, and a good value for the money.
Vistal
As always the course & staff was great! With exception to the occasional wait on the tee box (all of the snowbirds are in Phoenix) Vistal is one of my favorite courses in the valley for the money. I'll for sure play Vistal again.
Awful Shape
I played the course expecting to find it in decent shape, and was disappointed. The tee boxes and greens were both terrible. Thankfully the staff was very friendly, otherwise I would have been furious with my experience. It wasn't my first time, but it will be my last.
challanging
Trickey greens with most greens protected by deep bunkers. Bermuda grass and some holes with picturess views with city backdrop as well as mountain. Would like to play again!!
Vistal Vistas
Vistal has such beautiful scenery and layout, it is a shame that the course is not very well maintained. Fairways and greens leave a lot to be desired. Beer is way overpriced at $5/ domestic. The only reason I would play Vistal again is because the layout plays next to South Mountain. Vista's are beautiful.
Glad they took out 50 BUNKERS
I hadn't played here in 4 years.
Still has the GREAT views .
Just Perfect
It was a great day for golf. Got there a little early to hit balls at the range. Staff was super friendly and greeted us as we walked up. The course was in good condition.
Scenic overlook of Phoenix
It was our first time playing this course and it was a beautiful warm day. We drove 45 min. to get here because it was a good price. But the fairway grass was worn down and thin and the greens were bumpy. With more water it could be a very nice course
