value
Good course for the money. Need to overseed greens.
5 Hours to play 18, unacceptable
My day out at Vistal was horrible, to have to sit and wait 5-10 minutes to shoot your next shot, 10-15 minutes on the tee boxes (on 7 there were 4 groups backed up) was just so unacceptable. Course personnel/management was aware of this (I seen them out on thier cart more than several times) but did nothing to increase the speed of play, especially the two 4-somes in fornt of our trio. Horrible, horrible day! Anyone who plays golf with any regularity kows how when play is this slow, it just totsly wrecks your game. We won't be back for some time, if ever.
Great views of city and South Mountain
The pace of play was slow with frequent waiting. Stacked up three groups deep on a couple holes. Finallly opened up on the back nine. Some of the par 4's are long even from the whites. Greens in good shape, Tee boxes pretty ragged. Generally love playing this course.
Right on the mountain!
Very nice course, excellent views. The course is right on south mountain which was really nice! We had to postpone our tee time a few days and the staff was very nice about it and everything went very well!
Good Day to be with friends
Course was in good shape, greens were firm and fast. Bunkers were a little hard with some having little to no sand. Overall course plays fair and if you keep in fairway you will get lots of roll. The holes that go along the base of South Mtn are fun to play and scenic views are nice. Staff very friendly. It was a good day to play with my friends and helped pass time as play could get slow at times. That is to be expected when playing on a weekend in Jan.
once you play.Vistal your hooked
I've recently began playing Vistal a few months ago. It's rapidly become a favorite of mine. Worth the 45 minute drive. It let's me play every club in the bag and challenges every aspect of my game.
nice time on course
ball rolls out on fairways ,greens were in great condition, back nine close quarters watch for errant
tee shots incoming from other holes, lots of bunkys
so bring your sand wedge, some tee boxes muddy
lots of wildlife watch for coyotes around dusk
Nice Course but Threatening Staff
Course was great... And the views are amazing. However, they threatened my 72 year old stepfather with felony for drinking a beverage that was not from the course. A bit much for a retired two star general, however the course was very nice and a good value.
Won't play again
The staff was awesome in terms of customer service. I would not play it again due to the artificial grass greens and the type of bermuda on the fairways. If the course had the type of grass that was around the club house it would be awesome. Still enjoyed playing with my son on Christmas Eve. The price was appropriate for that type of course.
Interesting Track, Average Conditions
This is the first course I played in AZ. At $30, wasn't breaking the bank. The course itself was really interesting in terms of it's layout. However, the greens were fairly long and incredibly difficult to hold (I hit a number of them only to have the ball bounce off into the waste areas). Was pretty clear it was off season. That being said, I still enjoyed the round once I changed my strategy to roll the ball onto the greens versus try and stick them. It's very cheap in terms of pricing, but don't expect something incredible. I will say the staff were awesome.
Great Course Vistal
We have played Vistal before and love it. Vistal offers a great challenge and great scenery with South Mountain and downtown Phoenix. Great Price too only $40.00 plus tax. No shield on the cart for wind protection in the cool morning but when the sun came up it was fine. Also, no GPS on cart so if you have one you should bring it. Greens and fairways were great and the rough in some places was rough and bumpy. Definitely will play again.
Great value and friendly staff
As a full time AZ resident it becomes very expensive to play most courses in the winter season. My hat is off to Vistal for keeping it "affordable" for the locals. The course is in good shape and the staff is super helpful and friendly. Great job Vistal!!
great views, no overseed.
The course was not over seeded this winter, so the fairways are dormant grass. Green are a bit bumpy. However the view of the city are great and the course has no houses on it.
Nice Course
The course is very well designed and has an interesting layout. You can see the South Mountain close by and downtown Pheonix from the distance.
Go play Vistal
Great scenery on and surrounding the course. Challenging for beginner up to the seasoned golfer. The greens are tiered or sloped, but the pin placements are fair, and attainable, with the correct mid or short iron. Greens are protected by bunkers on most, so bring your best sand wedge, or your 'A' short game. One of the most scenic courses I've played, as well as interesting design ( the par threes are very well laid out and fun to play). If you haven't played it, make the effort to do so! You won't be disappointed.
Just go play Vistal.
Great value
I go wherever the hot deals take me. Cant believe I've never played Vistal before but I will be back for more. Challenging and fun, especially from the tips. Friendly staff and nice course conditions with great views of south mountain and downtown phoenix.
vistal
excellent value , good pace of play, course in pretty good condition, over seeded fairways nice
Great course
This is the best course for the money I've ever played in AZ. I'm from Illinois and am considering relocating to AZ. This WILL be my Home Course. Staff are very friendly, course condition is excellent and the views are awesome. Thanks Vistal.
Don't Mow Greens on Weekend?
Love the layout and price of Vistal. The fairways were very solid but unfortunately they don't mow the greens on Saturday and Sunday which seems extremely odd since they didn't overseed the course at all. Seems pretty easy to run the mowers over the greens first thing in the morning and call it good.
The issue we had was that since they didn't mow, there was a large collection of dew on the greens and when you putted there was a spray of water for the first 9-10 holes until it all dried out. I just don't understand why they wouldn't mow on likely the busiest days of the week? I would think it would make much more sense to not mow on some random days during the week?
Overall, we liked the course and the fantastic layout/price will likely get us back but we will likely play in the afternoon when it dries out and there's not a water spray on every putt....
Good Track Great Staff
Nice Views and a good fun track. Greens were in good shape fairways were dormant but in decent shape. Finished in just over 4 hours. Best staff in the valley always nice and friendly. Wished this course was closer!!
