Nice long executive
I didn’t realize this was the executive course at this club when I booked. This is a nice little course for an executive. Good challenging distances to exercise your short game. A couple to drive for.
Short Course
Loved this course! It was challenging and it was in great condition!
It was great until it wasn’t
Check-in:
- The ladies working the counter and inside were great and answered all questions. They pointed out that the driving range was closed but putting and chipping were open. Kind of a bummer but we had played 9 holes in the morning so we were warm.
Course:
- Gorgeous and a nice deal. I think it’s the third where it’s an elevated green which was gorgeous. Really aggressive multi tiered greens make for some spicy finishes.
The locals:
- As we were heading out for our round, an older “gentleman,” with his personal cart decked out in Univ. of Utah…everything, along with his drinking buddies, park away from the bar and others hanging out in the area very clearly marked rental cart parking only. We were heading out so figured they might be getting a drink and then driving home.
After our 18 holes, “Utah,” and friends were sloshed, and dropping every expletive under the sun, We turned in our cart and I went in to check out. The lady inside asked us to move our cart to the corral in the back via the PA. My wife offered, and Utah, and crew started to chirp. Not a big deal, but as they started to turn to my wife, she made it clear it would be advised of them to leave her alone.
Witnessing this, and knowing she can handle herself quite well, I explained their behavior to the office and you can regrettably tell she was embarrassed for the facility. Apparently this is not me behavior for Utah and crew, so if you come, do so in the morning to avoid the old guys tying one on due to an apparent unhappy home life.
Poor greens, poorer pace
What can you expect in old Sun city. Par 60 so you know you’re waiting every par 3. Tee box was nice and putting green, fairway was dead grass spray painted dark green, all other grass was dead. Small course so some tee boxes are very close to the previous course putting green. Group behind us got pretty close to hitting us 2-3 times due to how close everything is. For a par 60 it was a little pricey. Also you have to skip across the course to find holes 10-18, no real direction layout is weird, thought we played 9 because when you leave 9 by the club house the next green is hole 1 for another course. Pace was extremely poor. Relaxed in a sense but slow. Had to wait to tee off on every single hole. Holes 2-3 to start 5 mins+ each. Only reason I liked it is because I played well here. It’s far and slow paced with poor kept grass, wouldn’t recommend, nicer executive courses for same price or less out there
golf at WB 12/15
Good course to practice par 3 accuracy. Conditions were OK but greens were different on each hole with the back 9 being shaggy. Lots of slow golfers.
Pretty nice course for a par 3
The only thing that bothered me, was that it seemed the fairways were actually painted green! If the ball got wet, the green dye would stick to the ball or your fingers. I’m not sure what that is all about, but it was definitely odd. The greens were in pretty good shape, although a bit slow. Otherwise, it was a fun course.
