Just ok
Was about the only place affordable this time of year. Traditional old school layout that was pretty decent. Greens would not hold though. I would go back if the price is right.
Enjoyable round
Check in a little slow. Course was in decent shape. Greens were very fast, some bare spots. Pace was ok at 4:15.
Nice outing
Played this as a Hot Deal. First time using the GN app. 2:00PM tee time. The pro shop had no record of my reservation through the app. I showed them the email and app confirmations, they were kind of rude about it at first but made it right and let me out. I am not sure how seriously these courses take players who book through GN. Tee times were on schedule. I was a single the got paired with another GN player who also walked along with a couple other guys sharing a cart. Finished in 4 hours, pace was good but it was getting kinda dark on 18, we squeaked it in though.. We were never waiting long on the tees or fairways. The course was in good shape and pin placement was challenging. There were a handful of greens that had a lot of ball marks that previous players couldn’t be bothered to repair. Didn’t affect putting that bad though. I had a great time and will definitely play this one again as a Hot Deal if this is what I can expect in the future.. The driving range ball machine is a joke and the range is in really bad shape and super short. It’s like 200 to the net.
This course is in great shape!
This is the third time we’ve played this course this season, and we will definitely Italy play it again. The fairways are beautifully green and cut well, the rough is typical Arizona rough with brown grass, but it’s not left so I long that you can’t find your balls, and
the greens are great. The pace was great, as there weren’t many golfers this time of year, ie, one week before Christmas and the weather was cool. It was perfect for walking the course, which is what we love to do.
parman
all good sand is a liitle bit hard, fairways descent pace a little slow
Raining
Hard to review as it was raining. That is not the courses fault. The course was taking the water fairly well. No major lakes forming so that is good. We started to have our hands slip off the clubs so we decided to call it early so that we did not hurt ourselves trying to grip too tightly.
NO CARTS @ 7:30AM
Didn't play because they had no carts when we checked in at 7:10 for a 7:30 tee time
Cart Path only
A lot of golfers did not come out since it was cart path only. We did not run into anyone until the 6-7 holes. From there on out it was a slow slog of endless waiting. Seems 3 groups ahead of us was a group that did not care how slow they played. The course was wide open in front of them. This is the problem out here. You have people who do not care if they ruin the round for others. The greens were a bit fuzzy, but that is to be expected after over seed. The fairways had new grass coming in.
No cart
Had a hour wait on cart! Then sent out in a fivesome following a fivesome. . Took 5 hours to play!.
Painful experience
Same thing seems to happen every year at this time, they neglect the rough to where it is not only unplayable but makes it hard to find your ball quite often. In this case, it resulted in an injury.
Ball was in heavy, unmanaged rough right of 6th green when I stepped on an unseen wooden tee and it pierced through my shoe and into my foot. No idea why there was a tee in that spot but had I been able to see it I wouldn't have been stabbed by it.
Price to play in sun city on golf now isn't a bargain compared to other, better maintained courses since carts are no longer included in price. They need to make play there more accommodating or risk losing any outside play from non residents.
