Sun City South Golf Course
About
The Sun City South Golf Course is normally a private club but during the summer months, public play is allowed. The course has a traditional layout with four sets of teeboxes for a variety of different golfing options, which allow golfers to work on a range of different handicaps. The golf course has a fair share of challenges with several sand bunkers and plenty of trees scattered throughout. There are also out-of-bounds stakes providing more difficulty. Water hazards come into play on some holes as well. The Sun City South Golf Course facility has a putting green and chipping area for golfers to use in addition to the course.

Family Affair
Really enjoyed playing with 2 of my sons and we will be making it a regular occasion throughout the summer.
Improved From Last Year
Overall conditions are better. Greens pretty consistent. More grass in the rough so not all lies off hardpan. Check in always very friendly. Pace of play a little slower than needed. Group ahead of us was several holes behind and made no effort to keep pace. Unfortunately, typical for Sun City course.
Cool day before the summer heat
I moved along the first few holes not seeing anyone else as a single player. Unfortunately, at the first 3 par the course was backed up and ultimately I joined another group to improve pace of play. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful spring day on the golf course and the other players were friendly and enjoyable to play golf with.
Good course for the money
I liked the course. Good challenge, but not overly hard.
I thought it was a good value for the money.
Fun Course, Nice Greens, Poor Fairways
We took a chance on this course based on the great rates available on Golf Now.
Pros:
- Greens we’re in great shape and ran true.
- Excellent pace of play. Teed off at 7:30 On a Sunday and felt like we were the only group there until somewhere around hole 16. Nobody was ahead of us and the nearest group was a couple holes back until late in the round.
- Good value
- Bunkers in good shape but some are a bit dry
Cons:
- No winter overseeding so fairways are essentially dormant summer turf. Painted to give the impression of being green.
- Cart fee is $12 per person. Wish the cart fee was included in the price on Golf Now. The Sun City Recreation Courses should get back to pre-COVID pricing and include carts in the Golf Now rates.
- Ball runs for a while on these fairways with no stopping until the run out of steam. Good for long drives but bad if you are playing for targets to set up a second shot.
