Sun City Lakes Golf Club - West Course
About
The 18-hole West Course at Sun City Lakes Golf Club is a private course with a traditional layout. The course is quite open and features a few interesting challenges. It is relatively flat, making it nice to walk although carts are available. More advanced players that mostly hit straight balls may not find the course challenging enough, but it is quite enjoyable for beginners and intermediate players. Notable holes on the course are the 3rd, 9th, and 18th since they can be played a few different ways. The Lakes West Golf Course facility, in addition to the course, has practice facilities including a putting green, chipping area, and driving range.

Fun course!
It was a beautiful spring day and we finished up in a little less than four hours. Staff is doing a great job worth pace of play.
Nice course if you have a cart
I've avoided this course for years since they don't have more than a handful of rental carts available. Now I have the annual pass with a reserved cart I plan to play it more often. Tough course layout when windy but luckily winds were down today. Greens are not as undulating as other SC courses which gives you, at least the impression, of some flat spots on the greens. Tee boxes could use some maintenance but rest of course was in good shape. Pace on front nine was 2 hours plus: back 9 was quicker since group in front of us had quit after front side.
Pace of play was totally unacceptable , No Marshall and no way to jump around ignorant and asshoke groups. Five + hours isn’t fun or acceptable
No power or pull carts available at course
Did not appreciate a 1 hour return trip home and could not play because the course did not have any power or pull carts available for our tee time which we showed up 30 minutes early for.
Be Prepared to Walk
Not very many carts available for two golf courses. None available for me when I arrived. Used a push-cart that was in very poor condition. Managed to get a cart at the turn. Fairways and Greens in good shape. Not much of a "rough", was just hard-pan grass as short as the fairway. Tee boxes were also hard-pan on the Par 3s making it hard to hit an iron.
Golfnow is a joke
Course was fine. Golfnow sucks donkey balls. Do NOT use them. They did an "upgrade" on their software and NOTHING works right now. In order to make a tee time, you have to call somebody in India and get put on hold for half hour. Golfnow SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
clarkjnk
Course condition excellent, greens putt true roll, golf cart rental limited . Found course excellent walking . Pace play was a bit slow due to mid day traffic par 3's backup.
I would recommend .
Nice course
Played this course in 3.5 hrs. Course in good shape tee to green. Would play again. Best course I played so far in sun city.
Good for practice rounds
Fair value for the money in March. Easy course to walk also. Tee boxes are dry and hard, not overseeded. Greens were in better than average condition.
One of the best courses in Sun City as far as course conditions. The greens a a good speed and fairways and tees are in great condition. I have enjoyed playing here this year.
Slow golfers
Too many slow players. We waited on every hole and every shot. We were walking and we were still faster than the groups with carts in front of us. After awhile it just got boring waiting for them to clear. Completely killed the day. No fun at all. I just wanted it to be over. The group behind us hit into us even though they could see us waiting on the group ahead. No ranger to help keep pace.
