Deer Valley Golf Course at Sun City West
About
Deer Valley Golf Course offers a challenging game that will test golfers of all skill levels. The course has a beautiful rolling terrain with over 800 palm trees sprinkled throughout, providing a nice landscape but they can also affect shots since they border nearly all of the greens on the golf course. There are also sand bunkers that guard some of the greens, which are large, undulating, and oftentimes difficult to read. In addition, five of the greens are double-tiered. Ten ponds are situated on the course, coming into play on five holes. There are also some dogleg fairways to add to the difficulty at Deer Valley.

great sand traps
very good will play again, only problem no cold water on course not good
Fun track
This is a really great course to play in the summer while it's only 15 bucks for non residents. The pro shop can sometimes be unwelcoming to outsiders and especially younger people but you are on,y there long enough to pay and get a cart key. The course is a fun layout with a combination of long and short holes. Greens are a little slow usually but the course is in good shape for August. If you hit it well here you can score well. The 18th is a great finishing hole especially with a back hole location. Give it a try during the summer when it's cheap and empty and you will be glad you did!
Great track
great track , very well maintained and enjoyable to play for all. The staff and other golfers were all very friendly Wide fairways and big greens and nice bunkjers made this am enjoyable round
Excellant condition
I rated the course condition as good, but for time of year I would say it is excellent. The fairways are in very good condition, and the greens putt true even if they would be rated a little slow, It was a fun day .
Great condition this time of year
Best sand in the area. The course was in great condition considering the heat at this time of the year.
First time
The course was in nice condition. We were especially pleased with the bunkers...real sand, not the miserable hard pan that most courses have that do a number on your clubs.
Nice experience
Very good condition. Only saw one other player. And the layout - the course goes in a large circle - was unique.
This course is beautifully maintained.
The course was absolutely beautiful. The greens were pristine.
Very nice course
Identical facilities to all SCW golf courses so if you know one facility, you are right at home. Water can be a player on several holes but only if you are hitting bad shots. Sand traps are appropriately placed to make you think about your shots. Overall excellent experience and the staff is as friendly as can be found anywhere. 78 degrees with clear skies which has been the case here for the last three months. Perfect winter golf.
Vacationing Golfer
Went as a single, paired with three others, good, nice people.
Staff extremely professional. no complaints from me.
Course was in very good shape, play was fast and pleasurable.
Being from Chicago, and visiting Phoenix in Feb., how can I have any complaints!
Would play course again.
Golfnow has a Great deal on this track.
Value
Had a friend in for the PHX Open and we played golf here Saturday. Great day and value. He played Friday at a course in the east valley for over a hundred dollars.....
deer valley
Fairways and tee boxes very good
Greens were very nice, rolled smooth
Nice layout
Course was fun to play and it was a reasonable value. I would play it again and would recommend it to others.
Short, but a great value
I would suggest playing the back tees here. We played it with some friends yesterday, and the white tees resulted in a multitude
of very short iron shots into quite large greens. While this resulted in a fine score and ego-boost, we shall play the back tees next time (and there will be one of those soon, guaranteed!). The course could do themselves quite a favor and upgrade the clubhouse area, unless you like hot dogs & light beer as about your only options after the round.
especially great for an afternoon round
the course was in great shape, the pace of play was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. An added bonus for December is that in the last 2 holes do not face west.
Incredibly RUDE staff on a very nice course - beware GolfNow users
I bought the tee time for my husband, a good golfer. The course was nice, as were his playing partners. But when they arrived for the 1:37 tee time, there were no carts. The two staff members in charge were horrible - said "too bad, you shouldn't be playing here anyway". They were mad that all 4 guys were playing at a discount from GolfNow and one staffer actually said, "I OWN this course. I don't like GolfNow and you shouldn't use it." When asked what they would do about the carts, the same guy snarled, "I don't know and I don't care." My husband and one player decided to walk with pull carts; a staffer finally brought them a cart on the 5th hole. The two other golfers waited 45 minutes for cart. You know, anyone can be having a bad day, but don't take it out on the customers. AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE GOLFNOW THEN MAYBE YOUR COURSE SHOULDN'T USE IT. Almost ruined an otherwise nice day.
Great for the senior golfer
Although I found this course to be relatively easy, it is a great course for my friends to play. It also boosts my ego.
Groups were back to back to back
The grass couldn't have been any greener or thicker. The course has just reopened after over seeding. Everyone wanted to play today and it made for a very slow round. We were not able to finish with a 2:07 tee time. Greens were very slow but there wasn't a bare spot anywhere. The head starter couldn't have said less to us upon arrival. I know he was the head starter because his shirt said so.
Wide open fairways, but course is a little short.
Deer Valley is a fun course with wide open fairways and big greens, especially on the par 3s. It might be the easiest and shortest regulation course in Sun City West, but it is well maintained and the greens are in great condition and some pins are challenging.
