Always a Challenge at Oakwood
No matter what 18 you get you'll find it a great challenge to your game. Not extreme in length but long enough for the big sticks -- and you better look out for the water! Have fun every time we play here.
Hidden Gem
There wasn't a great deal of play. This course is located inside a gated community and that could be a reason for the lack of play at this plush course. Just pull up to the gate and tell the attendant that you are there for golf. What you will find will be a wonderful course that will surprise you with its lush fairways and true rolling greens. I cannot recommend Oakwood enough, I wish I could rate it higher than five stars.
Good value at $20 with cart.
Course was in very good shape. Bunkers need some new sand. Staff is friendly and helpful. I will continue to play Oakwood.
Super course!
Excellent course for the price. A hidden gem in the southeast valley. Greens very well kept. An excellent challenge. Go NOW!!!!
Good course, well maintained.
Tees and greens were in excellent shape. Staff was friendly. Got on the course early.
three different nines is great!
Play Oakwood at least five or six times a month. Love the course and I always take out-of-state visitors here and they all really enjoy themselves. Only complaint is the same I see in everyone else's reviews - sand bunkers are HORRID!!! One would think that if the staff read the reviews they would eventually add sand to the bunkers. Other than the bunkers, the course is always in great shape and enjoyable to play.
Stay away from the bunkers!!
We were greated by a very good staff from the Pro to the Starter. The course was in above average condition to other courses we have played. Pace of play was to be 3.75 hrs, it was slow and more like 4.5. We did see a ranger, but the pace had us waiting on every tee box and in every fairway. We enjoyed the course with one or two exeptions. The worst was the hard crusty waste areas and bunkers. There was a hard crusty sand layer ontop of hard as rock base under it. There were no good options to come up with a saving shot from any bunker we were in that day. The second would be the slow greens. Maybe that was their solution to bad bunkers, but it did not help. Solution, layup if you even think you may go in a bunker. It's a automatic one to two stroke penilty if you do.
I don't see any way that they would make these playable, so I would not be back. That's just me, I like to have some chance to get up and down when in a bunker.
Goodcourse and great value
This course can be challenging with water on many holes. It was still fun to play and I would recommend it to any intermidiate players. Beginners might want to bring many balls if they have trouble keeping the ball in the middle. The only compliant I had was the goose droppings on many tee boxes and some greens near the water.
Excellent experience.
Course is always in good condition. We usually golf about 1:00 and have always finished under 4 hours 15 minutes.
course is in good condition.... other than the goose feces all over the place.
Course looks great for the price (after 2:00pm, $35)
Kind of challenging but very fair. Greens were pretty true.
Challenging for me. Enough water to make it interesting. We had to wait a little between shots, probably because we were a twosome in the middle of a bunch of foursomes. Saturday morning for $50. Not bad.
Good condition, good value with early twilight rate
After the recent rains the course is in excellent condition. Lush with soft greens. Challenging but fair course. 3 nines, all different. Only negative was the lady checking you in at the pro shop should not be dealing with the public. She was rude and dismissive to the people she was talking to on the phone and no better with the customers checking in. Maybe she was just having a bad day.
Very diverse tee boxes make this fun for all handicaps. Great features.
The fairways were very green and manicured, though very yellow / brown rough. Greens were in excellent shape. Course lakes were very blue and beautiful. Wide open for the most part, very playable. Every hole was fun. The price for the round was just right, maybe even cheaper than expected based on how nice the course was. Thank you and look forward to playing it again!
I played the Lakes then Palms courses.
This course has three 9 hole tracks. Lakes, Palms and Sonoran. My favorite is the Lakes as I find water hazards a nice challenge.
Nice variety with 3 nines.
Nice mix of holes. Like the Lakes nine best. Great shape and good greens. Played it many times over the years. Good value.
Good pace
Staff were friendly and cooperative. Played the white tees and it was quite short but it is nice to win sometimes.
Nice set of three 9's in Sun Lakes Chandler.
I have played Oakwood quite a bit. The 3 nines each have their own distinct feel. The layouts are a solid mix of risk/ reward. There are a number of water holes on the course, which is pretty well placed in the layout. The conditions are always pretty good. The greens are pretty consistent for speed and break. In the winter, pulic tee times are only available on Saturday and Sunday. Around April it will change back to daily access. The price for the course is always among the more reasonable in the East Valley. The drink cart is always around and the prices are really reasonable. One of my favorite all around courses for playaability and value.
Relatively easy course
Not bad. Course was in good shape, layout was rather pedestrian, Short, 6600 from tips.
