Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

great practice course
the course was in great shape, a little over watered in some areas ... greens rolled true and surprisingly in better shape then most courses. Descent practice course, will use most clubs in your bag.
Slowest round of my life
Everything was excellent except that I was paired with a 16 year old in a cart so I could not move on as he would hit a bad tee shot and rehit several times and play 2 balls on the same hole sometimes which made my foursome play 9 holes in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Solid Muni
This place is a good local track. They just upgraded the carts finally which is awesome. The layout is engaging enough. Varying par 4 lengths which can make for challenges and rewards. Forgiving fairways. Bunkers always need work though. Greens are slowing down a lot compared to the fall/winter. Cart service didn’t start until hole 11 so that was annoying. Restrooms are out of order on hole 5. A few of the tee boxes could use a trim. Overall good value for the price.
KMGC is in fair shape
Course was in OK shape. Tee boxes could use some leveling; fairways were fairly-good condition, greens were quite slow, but true; sand traps lacked sand (which perpetrated some bad shots); rough beyond first cut was thick grass or bare dirt. Pace of play was slow (4:30), prompting a fair-value rating for the day. BTW: the range balls have seen better days.
Great value, good time
First time playing, really enjoyed the round, almost no waiting, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.
Great Muni if you can get on
Course never disappoints. Great value at a solid course where if you play well you’ll score. Greens are slow and pretty flat but it’s just a solid course for the cost. Pace of play is slow later in the day, but every time I’ve played it has a great day.
Fix the sand traps
It is the cheapest in the "Phoenix " area but just because it's affordable, doesn't mean you can't take care of the sand traps better. Also making up for the cheaper price by packing the course like sardines doesn't make the round of golf fun. Teenagers playing like it's a play ground. I do appreciate the price but I'll pay more somewhere else to get a nice round of golf. Parking is a walk away. Few handicap parking spots close. I must say the fairways were in good shape.
Great Day
My wife and I played the course on a beautiful day. We teed off close to 2pm and were able to finish our round just as the sun set at 6:10p. Pace was a little slow for most of the round, however steady. Course was in very good shape except for the sand bunkers (little sand), however not a major issue for us. A fun day out.
Good Course.
Nice course layout and facilites.
A little expensive for a municipal course with no sand in the traps. Good value if you get a Golf Now deal time.
CourseCo management is a disaster
Frost delay today - the 3rd one I've experienced in AZ.
First (2) courses notified me the morning of - allowing me to cancel my tee times.
Not Kenny Mac.
Not only did they not send an e-mail notifying people of the delay, but when you checked in and paid for the round they said nothing as well.
It was when the starter announced (4) groups at my tee time while I was practicing on the putting green that I had to inquire if there was a delay.
"Yeah but we'll have you out in a few minutes."
You just announced 4 groups, when will I be out?
"About 40 minutes"
Waited 40 minutes. Came back and he announced (3) more groups again, still not announcing my group.
Dishonest, shady business practices. Well done City Council outsourcing management of the course to CourseCo.
Haven't given a 1 star rating to any course yet but they absolutely deserve it.
Nice course, slow play
First time playing this course, really like the layout and it is in great shape other than the greens being kind of slow. Only problem was the pace. I saw a ranger cart but never saw a ranger and it ended up being a 5 hour round.
Good condition
Course was in good condition, green roiled good. Back nine appears they put out some people just playing nine. Was stacked 3 groups deep on the first 5 holes
course
Course is in excellent condition.
greens are in top condition
Ok but not the best.
Booked a tee time on golf now. 3:09 booking. After 3 o’clock rate said it was 25$. My card was charged 37$ when I got to the course also golf now charged me 12$ on top of that. How is this a rate? I feel like someone dropped the ball on that. Also we were supposed to play 9 holes. Only got through 6 holes because the course was overbooked. Left the course at 5:45 almost 3 hours just for 6 holes is craziness. I feel like I’m owed some golf here…. On a positive note the greens were in decent shape. I live on this course. Always playing it. But for what I paid just not worth it
