Shalimar Golf Club
About
Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Country Club?
This has to be the loosest use of the term Country Club I’ve ever seen. Every other Country Club in the world should file a formal complaint.
This “18” hole course is just 9 holes that you have the privilege of playing twice. Nevermind that after finishing the “front” 9 there might be 4 groups stacked at #1 waiting to tee off.
Tee boxes: C+
Fairways: C
Greens: B+ (Tiny greens mean they are easy to keep up, well played)
Views: Sad houses
Overall this course is a relic of the mid-80’s. A course that was plopped in the middle of a sad neighborhood. This course is worth $50 for “18” if the starter (kidding, there was no starter) hands you $60 at the beginning of your round. Don’t be fooled by the name of this course.
$75 for 2 players - Not Really Worth the Price
I don't mind paying $75 for a 9 hole round of golf for two, but this course needs a lot of work and is NOT worth the price we paid. The course needs to be better maintained, especially the bunkers (they didn't have sand in them but they had rakes?). The fairways were littered with practice balls from the driving range or balls that players couldn't find. The putting greens need to be improved also. I also didn't understand why they needed to hold on to your drivers license to rent the cart... really? If they don't spend some money and improve this course, I can see why it may be closed down next year!
Great little course
We had fun playing at Shalimar. Great stafff. The course looks like it was once quite spectacular. Perhaps it needs a little attention now, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves😊
Course Conditions
I don't believe this course is being taken care of al all. It looks as if there is very little investment in what I was told was a very fine course at one time. Disappointed in the condition of the course.
Fun course but the pace was extremely slow
We’ve played there a few times this winter and love the course. Yesterday our tee time was 12:30 but it we didn’t tee off until 1:30 because the course was so backed up and we had to wait for carts. We knew the group in front of us were all very new golfers but even new golfers should know the basics of golf etiquette. Sadly, they did not. We waited about 20 minutes to take our second shot before we called the clubhouse to ask for someone to come and move them along. We waited a bit more and then picked up our balls and played through them. There were two clear holes ahead of them. It took almost 3 hours for nine holes, crazy!
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Shalimar Golf Club.
Challenging Greens - Meet some new friends
With the postage stamp and fast greens, this course is a challenge. Hard to stick a ball, so bump and run.
It helped immensely that I was paired up with 3 other regulars, Dale, Rob and Erik, that not only knew the course but were super friendly. Joe, who was with the other 4-some, set the tone by inviting me to play with them. Although a bit of a hike from my home, want to go back. Too bad that it is being sold and will probably become a housing development.

Good for the Price
A decent time bought course but sure wish the kitchen wasn't closed. We had a big appetite following our round
We're sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with the kitchen being closed. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again.
Fun course!
Lovely neighborhood course, beautiful day, we were paired up with great folks and had a lovely day.
Thank you the 5-Star Rating! We look forward to having you back soon at Shalimar Golf Club
Short Course- Easy to Walk
This 9-hole course is easy to find and easy to play. Nothing over 350 Yds. Wide fairways, small greens and plenty of trees. We decided to use youthful caddies and it was fun. Price was right at $20 with coupon.
Hello, thank you for visiting us at Shalimar Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Deferred maintenance
While still a good deal to walk 9 holes for $20 in Arizona in February, Shalimar has a lot of what appears to be deferred maintenance. This is understandable considering the course may close in 2025. Still, it is hard to play out of sand traps full of weeds.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the maintenance issues you experienced during your visit. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Shalimar Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
