River Hills Golf & Country Club
About
River Hills Golf and Country Club is in Little River, near North Myrtle Beach, a Tom Jackson product that shows heavily-wooded, rolling terrain with elevation changes as much as 40 feet. Golfers won't encounter parallel fairways, but they will encounter fairways that weave through a series of homes, along with dogwood, maple, live oak, pine and cypress tees. They will also see quite a bit of water, though most of it is lateral.

Underrated
Course in great condition, no problem playing the ball down. Greens rolled good. Good test for shotmakers.
Excellent
Everything was great. Wish they had a drink cart but understandable since there weren’t a whole lot of people on the course after the hurricane

Staff.at the course from the bag drop to the pro shop and restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
Awesome track!
Had a blast playing this course with my brothers and nephew. Conditions were great (outside of the heat which was not the courses fault) and I’d consider this a fair if not slightly challenging course. Starters were super accommodating and welcoming. Excellent way to spend my vacation with the family and I would love to play here again. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.
Great course
Great course for the money, well maintained and great staff. Can’t wait to go back!
Good Mix of holes
Great course with some scoreable holes with a few tough ones mixed in
Great test & conditions
Played here a few years ago, and the new greens make it even better. Green speeds were perfect for heat and pin placements. It's a shotmakers course, with lay ups on doglegs & tight fairways, so be super accurate on your yardages and have some fun!
First Time
I have driven past this course for the past ten years in Little River. Always thought it was not a great track. Saw a deal on GolfNow so my son and I decided to play something new. We liked it so much we played it again the next day with my oldest son. Great course, fun layout, lots of unique holes. Short par 4's, challenging par 5's. Great condition. It has water but not to much water.
Highly recommend. I am a 9 handicap and my sons are 7 and 12.
River Hills 1st time
Course conditions were good. Fast greens (small sized) bunkers-clean fluffy sand, nice fairways. Staff- friendly in and around clubhouse. Plenty of marshals riding around all morning checking things. Did a good amount of waiting on multiple holes though at times felt rushed from group behind us (senior 4 some) to just sit and wait for the groups in front of us (2 senior 3 some) Started on back 9…didn’t love but was a of with due to a busy early morning. Had a great playing partner (who had great course insight and experience, probably the only way we found our way thru each hole) added to our pair of golfers. The course layout was difficult to see and know where the landing areas are from tee to fairway. Multiple holes were sharpe doglegs that you had no idea where or how far to hit your shots. Basically just played to the150yrd marker in the fairway and then try to find the green. The rough on either side, trees and houses tight to the golf holes. I would only recommend to a friend who likes shorter course and who can keep their shots fairly controlled in tight, narrow conditions. Good course to play and see though.
Always a pleasure!!!!
Our group of 16 from Cleveland enjoyed River Hills. It was a cool breezy day for early May. Lots of doglegs, you will play better the second time around. Greens excellent, fairways and rough were a little sparse. Friendly staff. Good value
Nice condition and great layout
Clubhouse staff great. Starter brutal. Pace was slow. Price was right. Course in great condition.
Great round
The course was in excellent condition. The greens were great, and rolled very consistently every hole. The fairways were in great shape, as was the tee boxes.
The staff in the clubhouse was nothing but courteous and friendly.
The lounge/restaurant was better than average, and the waitress was awesome.
This was our first time playing River Hills, but it will not be our last.
Good time, value
Interesting layout with variety and risk-reward doglegs. Some bare spots on greens, but by and large the entire course is in good condition. First course we’ve played on this trip, so don’t know how others will implement COVID protections. At this one, employees outside and in the clubhouse did not wear masks.
Cart path only, fairways very wet, greens wet and slow. Course layout good, will be better to play in dry conditions.
Not a favourite.
OK, the course was wet, so that was a problem, but the course conditions could not be rated as good. Some greens had what looked to be winter kill, and appeared to be spray painted in spots, Obviously the course clientele do not take care of the greens. There were numerous unfixed ball marks, Also, I found the back nine to be much more difficult than the front --- water everywhere. Golfers with handicaps of 12 or less would find it less intimidating. I (an 18 handicapper) found it too punitive.
Hidden gem!
We drove 30 minutes to golf here and it was worth every minute of it! Such a beautiful course! There was a variety of challenging holes and layouts. Fairways were very good and greens rolled well. We have played 5 different courses this week and this by far was our favorite. Will definitely play again.
