greens inconsistent
It was a perfect golf day at Elephant Rocks. The temp was in the mid 60's, very little wind and not really crowded. This was the first time I played Elephant Rocks this year. The course had been opened for about three weeks. The course was in very good condition considering it had not been opened very long from winter. The areas around the greens were very wet, thus, if you hit before the green you would not get any bounce. The greens themselves were in good condition, but the roll was very inconsistent from hole to hole. The first five holes the greens were extremely slow. Holes 6 - 9 the roll was what I was accustomed to on this course. The back nine greens were very inconsistent and looked as though some were cut early and some not cut at all making reads very difficult. Ali in all it was a lot of fun! I enjoy playing this course at least once a month during their golf season. It is a fun course to play, challenging but not daunting for the average player. The scenery is awesome with views of the mountains. The GolfNow price was fantastic and look forward to my next round at Elephant Rocks!
The Rock
Elephant Rock Golf Course is a must play course for anybody that loves the game and enjoys great weather in tall pine trees with wildlife everywhere. The staff can' get any better and the town of Williams Arizona is absolutely one of the friendliest places on earth. So do yourself a favor and get out of the heat to Elephant Rock Golf Course in Williams AZ you will not be disappointed.
Hidden jem
If you ever find yourself close by, definitely stop and play. Such a fantastic course with great views and plenty of variability from the forested original 9, to the open plain new 9. This will be my go to as public options in flagstaff pale in comparison. Very friendly staff who are welcoming to everyone.
5+4x2=18
We played 5 holes of front nine and 4holes of back nine twice. Maybe next time!
Great Course, staff not so much
I love this course. It is beautiful and well maintained. I wish they had more amenities and food etc. No beverage cart on this day. My biggest complaint was the ranger on the course. We were a threesome of slightly older golfers but we keep things moving. We let a better fast playing twosome play through. After awhile he drove up and told us we "needed to speed up our play". We finished 18 holes in 4 and a half hours versus the allotted 4 hours. That does not seem too off pace. It really is discouraging when you are not a low handicap golfer to be pushed along when you are already playing at a good pace by course standards. This is what happens when a course tries to make more money by crowding tee times together. Just took the relaxation and fun out of it. I hope they work on this because this course is the best in Northern AZ,
The course is still in good shape and I lucked into a hot deal. We played in 3+20 as a 4-some and even had to wait on the group ahead a few times.
What a view!
Breath taking views and wonderful causes conditions. Staff were very friendly, will definitely be going back.
What a joy!
It’s hard to believe Elephant Rocks is a public, municipal course!
Beautiful Views
The day was extremely windy and cold. 25MPH winds with gusts up to 40MPH. The temperature was mid 50's, but the wind made it seem colder. The course was in good condition. Greens were in decent shape. Everything was a bit damp, but not wet. The course is not that difficult as long as you are used to tree lined fairways. I much prefer the trees vs. the houses in the Phoenix area. It is just a much more calming and peaceful feeling. The wind kept trying to ruin the feeling, but did not succeed. The views around and through the course are beautiful. The only thing that was not great was the two groups of 4 in front of us who were painfully slow. There was no one in front of them for several holes, but they would not speed up or let anyone play through. Multiple groups started backing up. No Ranger to keep pace.
Always enjoy this course
Pace seemed slow as we were playing but finished in 4 hours. All facets including bunkers were in good shape. I’d be happy to play again tomorrow.
Elephant Rocks is a must!
So glad that our foursome booked our rounds at Elephant Rocks. The setting was beautiful, the course was pristine and the staff was very accommodating. As a group of golfers who are lucky enough to play golf around the country, I would put our experience had at Elephant Rocks up against any other venues that we have been so fortunate to play. We flat out, had fun, scored well and came back for more 3 days in a row. Take your group to Williams, Arizona and play Elephant Rocks.
