this course is in cow pasture condition
I played this course several years ago and it was in great condition. Unfortunately today it is in very poor condition. You had trouble finding your ball in the fairways, when there was grass, bunker had no sand and most were filled with water and the greens had not been mowed for a week. A once great course nowa total disappointment.
Don't waste your time or money
The City of Reno owns this course. When it was first open it was a tuff, challenging golf course. The crown jewel of the City of Reno owned golf courses. It's obvious that the City of Reno has given up on the course and is just waiting to close it so RTC can push a highway thru the front nine. The driving range is all dirt. Many of the fairways have large burnout areas, the greens have weeds growing in places, the sand traps don't drain and some where full of water. The golf course is run down and the staff though they are try are probably just waiting for their pink slips or transfers.
A decent track for cheap
For $30 with a cart, I will definitely return. There are some rough spots on many of the fairways and the greens are painfully slow. I was told however that the course is under new management and will be improving for the years to come. The layout and scenery are pretty cool and unique to the Reno area. From the "tips" I hit a ton of 3 woods as most of the par 4s are under 400 yards. Overall I was pleased with my experience and look forward to some improved conditions next season!
um, yeah
This course was in poor shape. The cart paths are more like the streets in New York City, filled with pot holes. The carts were quite slow as well. The greens were not very good at all. They were very slow and bumpy. There is even a green where there is a dirt patch about 3 feet in diameter. Even though the rates are fairly cheap, this course is not worth the money.
Good Value but take your cheap balls!
Overall good value for 18 holes! If you don't hit the fairway however do not expect to find your ball (marshy areas). A lot of blind tee shots! Hit your target and you'll be fine. Nice course to work on your game, greens are a bit weird tho.
fun course
The course was in great shape, the sand traps fair. There's a bit of water on the course you need to look out for and plan ahead for. Really enjoyed it, the pace was quick and I was able to get right on and played in just under 3.5 hours.
One of the worst
This golf course is one big swamp. truly, one of the worst I have ever played. In fact, I paid for 18, but only played 9.
Poorly maintained course
Standing water in the fairways, muddy in many places, other places the grass was dead and missing.....These were just a few of the problems here. Could be a great links course and was at one time. I heard this was slated for removal for highway construction, may explain why the course was in disrepair.
Rosewood Lakes
The Greens have been improved significantly since I played this course early last year. More improvements, fairways, cart paths, Tees, etc. are in the plans.
Surprizing
looking at the course from the culbhouse the course looked very open and boring until you actually get on it and then your in for a real surprize, 3 holes have a totally blind shot from the tee to the fairway, most of the other holes you have to pick your club off the tee very carefully, most holes have danger on both side of the fairways, had a great day, and the staff was very friendly and food was very good and at a good price, would play there again !!
Great just to be playing golf!
Fun to play! Greens are in good shape!
Go out and Play!
A fun course
Good course play, friendly staff! Some of the holes need a little fairway work.
built on a wet-land.
poorly maintained course would never play again, built on a wet land preserve it's full of water hazards and tall grass. Narrowly placed and hilly. The cart trail is so pot holed out that one should consider a kidney belt. The city is really letting this one go. Even the drinks were garbage.
Lots of wetlands
I had a difficult time negotiating the wild grass and reeds. I am short and could not see hitting areas. The greens hold very well. The cart paths do need a lot of work. No trees to deal with; the nature areas more than make up for them.
Overall I enjoyed the round but a little less wind would be nice.
Course is in terrible shape
The green are bumpy and very slow .the tee boxes are disgusting trying to find a level spot to tee off from is difficult ! The tee boxes looked like they had three or four day of growth ,I never seen a course that did not mow greens and tee boxes daily.the course has potential but is being poorly managed.
Great rpice on GolfNow.com
Wasn't too impressed with some fairways and some greens, but for the price we scooped it up on golfnow.com was great.
on its way back
the course has came a long way since reopening.
They still have a ways to go, but seem to be
trying there best.
Position Golf
I didn't hit many drivers, as many of the holes ran out of fairway at from 200 to 240 yards, and one of those was totally blind. The greens were consistent and of a moderate speed. I'd play a few holes a little differently next time, but the course made me think, and was interesting.
rough around the edges
I can't complain about prices - golfnow and golf18 are amazing apps and I love deals. I've been able to head to some outstanding courses for pennies and haven't been disappointed, but...
Rosewood has given up. Recently, a consultant was brought in to look at some Reno golf assets and apparently, he wrote Rosewood off as a loss and said they should shut it down. This is partly politcal, as a freeway bypass has been proposed for the area. The staff at Rosewood has started early on the shut down. Everyone in the clubhouse was cordial, but the course itself is a mess. Every sand trap looked like a small lake, fairways were unmowed, greens were browns...it was just in bad shape.
The course layout is fun. Fairways are narrow with interesting terrain and water hazards that are in play instead of being merely decorative. One hole, I think it was 12 - has a blind shot to a completely occluded landing. Pace of play was good - I played alone and finished in two and half hours.
I had fun at Rosewood but it's a golf course that, at this point, is on the brink. I understand it's a lost cause but it would be nice to see them finish strong instead of just giving up and offering a mediocre experience.
Rosewood
The fairways have seen better days. The greens are rolling SLOW, but mostly true. Still all and all, not bad for the value.
