Long Bay Club
About
The Long Bay Club boasts a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, a major accomplishment when you're competing with golf destinations such as Hilton Head and Kiawah Island. The landscape showcases the beauty of the Lowcountry with forests of pines, dogwoods, and maple trees divided by clear blue streams. The golf course design closely mimics the natural contours of the terrain but there are also countless large, man-made mounds that were seamlessly sculpted into the surroundings. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses on the Grand Strand. Golfers will face numerous bunkers that are seemingly bottomless as well as vast waste areas. The signature hole is the par-4 10th, which features a u-shaped waste area that completely surrounds the fairway and then crosses in front of the elevated, contoured green.

Damaged greens
Many years since playing here. Enjoyed the layout but greens weren’t in good condition. Overseed in fairways was in great condition. Would like to play it when rough turns green. Price was ok for MB. Many homes border holes, doesn’t bother me but some may find it intimidating.
Great course, bad shape
Great Jack Nicklaus course layout. Just love to play there. However, greens were in really bad shape and pace of play was very slow with a five hour round. Disappointing.
Great Course!
Very Friendly staff, best fairway's and greens so far this March. Donated a few balls to the water but was worth it.
Great course!
The course was in good condition considering the heavy rain a few days before. Overall the bunkers were in fair shape again due to the rain. The staff in the Pro shop and cafe were amazing! I definitely will play again.
Slow slow pace of play!
The course is not is great shape. The pace of play was horrible. The marshall told us that he talked to the slow group ahead but nothing changed.
Unkempt bunkers and slow play
I’ve wanted to play this course for years and finally did today. I wish I hadn’t. The round was painfully slow; well over 5 hours. We waited every shot. I really wish the club staff had pushed play along. Saw a number of staff at the clubhouse, and no one on the course policing. This course could us some policing.
I think when you get into the $70+ range for golf the little details matter. Usually golf etiquette is followed. Apparently this course is okay with not raking bunkers. We played at 130pm and all the bunkers look liked a stampede had just happened. When I was in the bunker I raked as much as possible, but no one else seems to. I wish I had t spent my money here.
Brown greens
I liked the course in general but the greens should be a total embarrassment to the Golden Bear!!
Value
The course wasn't fantastic shape and had recently been redone. I had no expectations going in, but the chorus far exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend trying of course and it will give you a definite challenge on your short game and ball placement. The staff or extremely friendly and very helpful and overall I'll be back to play again.
Getting back to where it was
Played the course in the Spring and it was awful condition. They have reseeded the greens and fairways and now it is getting back where it was before a great course to play. The greens are not receptive at all and we played the day after a big rain fall. I guess over time the greens will get smoother and be more receptive as it should be for such a layout.
First to to Myrtle
I would go back to play as I liked the course and the setup. Conditions were very good. Peace of play was brutal, just over 5 hours. Arrived early to use warm up range, and were ignored by staff putting clubs on carts to deal with players that were late for their tee time. In ok waiting a bit, but we waited 15 minutes as players showed up after us and were all put on carts ahead of us. Certainly was not made to feel welcome. The course made up for the slow play and arrival.
Renovations
Green renovations were much needed and in time if taken care of will be an awesome addition! Course layout is excellent and with the new greens can be one of the best courses in North Myrtle Beach! Definitely will be back in spring of 2024 to see if the new greens have matured!
Would Return
Really wanted to play this course back in May but ended up picking another due to a bunch of negative reviews stating they were closing for the summer to redo the greens and parts of the course. Found a few positive reviews and decided to give it a try. Got it for $63/ea. on a Monday early afternoon. Was pleasantly surprised. Course is in great shape and is a fun layout. Unfortunately, it started to rain hard during our round and at the turn noticed we were the only golfers left on the course. So, we asked for a rain check and returned later in the week (sadly, on yet another rainy day) on a Friday morning. Was cool and windy but managed to finish the back 9 before it started to pour. Had a very slow foursome in front of us that we quickly caught up to and multiple foursomes behind us. Other than that would gladly return, course gave us central Florida golf community vibes.
Rbola
What the F#*£!!! Are you kidding me the course was and is unplayable. They blamed your company for not posting they are closing in 6 days. I’m out Fifty dollars because Long Bay or you were untruthful. Not likely I will ever use your services again.

Disappointing
I liked the lay out of the course but was shocked at the condition of the greens. The greens had more bare spots than it did grass and putting was a putt and hope.
Not up to par
Unfortunately we were not informed prior to booking that the greens were going to be under repair, hence they were a mess. Played the course years back it was in tip top shape. Oh well, maybe next time
A hard NO - Greens in horrible condition - waste of money and time
Greens were in horrific condition - they were mostly weeds. Could be the worst greens in the country.
Golf course management should have been more upfront, like before they took our money, and honest about course conditions. I even asked about the course conditions while paying and received a very shaky response.
Got to figure it will be years before their greens are repaired.
Only positive was the breakfast sandwich.
Waste of time and money.
