Long Bay Club
About
The Long Bay Club boasts a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, a major accomplishment when you're competing with golf destinations such as Hilton Head and Kiawah Island. The landscape showcases the beauty of the Lowcountry with forests of pines, dogwoods, and maple trees divided by clear blue streams. The golf course design closely mimics the natural contours of the terrain but there are also countless large, man-made mounds that were seamlessly sculpted into the surroundings. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses on the Grand Strand. Golfers will face numerous bunkers that are seemingly bottomless as well as vast waste areas. The signature hole is the par-4 10th, which features a u-shaped waste area that completely surrounds the fairway and then crosses in front of the elevated, contoured green.

I'd play again!
Like many of the other founders courses in the MB area this course is consistent. Fairways, greens in good shape and rolling well. My only complaint is while there was rangers, they did not push the pace of play. We constantly waited for a group in front of us, and it was open in front of them.
Course was okay. Older course. Greens coming in after putting in new greens but have lots of black areas in them.
Areas with lots of crab grass and such.
Not top of list to come back to for sure.
First time to Long Bay
First time playing this golf course. The design is simply perfect. A lot of sand trap and water. Quit challenging.
In the other hand, this golf course need a little bite more LOVE. The fairways are a bit damage. It would be a perfect golf course with new grass and change the sand surface that appears on many holes.
Otherwise I love played that course.
Sunday funday
The course was in good shape, the greens are not perfect but rolled a lot. I would play again but got in to give it a month or so to let the greens fully come in.
International
Best course conditions I played in the past 3 weeks of the 15 courses in the area. Particularly the greens
Dining room was under construction a minor issue
Damaged greens
Many years since playing here. Enjoyed the layout but greens weren’t in good condition. Overseed in fairways was in great condition. Would like to play it when rough turns green. Price was ok for MB. Many homes border holes, doesn’t bother me but some may find it intimidating.
Great course, bad shape
Great Jack Nicklaus course layout. Just love to play there. However, greens were in really bad shape and pace of play was very slow with a five hour round. Disappointing.
Great Course!
Very Friendly staff, best fairway's and greens so far this March. Donated a few balls to the water but was worth it.
Great course!
The course was in good condition considering the heavy rain a few days before. Overall the bunkers were in fair shape again due to the rain. The staff in the Pro shop and cafe were amazing! I definitely will play again.
Slow slow pace of play!
The course is not is great shape. The pace of play was horrible. The marshall told us that he talked to the slow group ahead but nothing changed.
Unkempt bunkers and slow play
I’ve wanted to play this course for years and finally did today. I wish I hadn’t. The round was painfully slow; well over 5 hours. We waited every shot. I really wish the club staff had pushed play along. Saw a number of staff at the clubhouse, and no one on the course policing. This course could us some policing.
I think when you get into the $70+ range for golf the little details matter. Usually golf etiquette is followed. Apparently this course is okay with not raking bunkers. We played at 130pm and all the bunkers look liked a stampede had just happened. When I was in the bunker I raked as much as possible, but no one else seems to. I wish I had t spent my money here.
Brown greens
I liked the course in general but the greens should be a total embarrassment to the Golden Bear!!
Value
The course wasn't fantastic shape and had recently been redone. I had no expectations going in, but the chorus far exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend trying of course and it will give you a definite challenge on your short game and ball placement. The staff or extremely friendly and very helpful and overall I'll be back to play again.
Getting back to where it was
Played the course in the Spring and it was awful condition. They have reseeded the greens and fairways and now it is getting back where it was before a great course to play. The greens are not receptive at all and we played the day after a big rain fall. I guess over time the greens will get smoother and be more receptive as it should be for such a layout.
