The Lakes Course at Red Hawk
About
The Lakes Course at the Resort at Red Hawk is a Robert Trent Jones masterpiece that has helped vault Reno and the High Sierra into the upper echelon of West Coast golf destinations. Named the best daily fee golf experience by readers of the Reno-Gazette Journal, the Hills Course is a challenge not to be missed.
Playing to more than 7,100 yards from the tips, the Lakes Course is a haven for big hitters who love dangerous risk-reward opportunities, as well as for players who thrive on accuracy in their golf game. More than 100 bunkers challenge golfers, as do a plethora of trees and water hazards that both add to the aesthetics of the course, and the difficulty.
Along with its sister, the Hills Course, the Lakes Course has helped the Resort at Red Hawk become synonymous with stellar golf action and excellent service.

Red Hawk Lakes Course
Red Hawk is a great and friendly place. The only negative is the cart area is not convenient to parking area and practice/check in.
Nice course
It was cold and windy but the beginning of April so to be expected. A nice wide open course.
Nice course
It was 45. The course was in good condition for April while it was snowing at Northstar. Overall a nice course.
Lakes vs Hills
I like both courses but I think the Lakes gets the edge 'cause I love all the water and the challenges herein. Course is in fine condition for the winter and the tee-off price is excellent - full tee-time price is a bit high, but with this discount it's a great deal.
Can't Wait for Spring!
I really like this course. It's winter golf now, for sure...but it's darn good for winter golf. Love all the water.
No Information
My group played here on Monday. The staff did not give any info about playing on temporary green the whole round. This is unacceptable. 60 bucks for the round and then 10 bucks for a bucket of balls. This is turning into a cash grab. Save your money and go somewhere else!!
Was Cart Path Only Even Though Fairways Were Dry
Got lucky on a balmy late December day in Reno. Was surprised to hear that course was cart path only, despite the fairways being firm & dry. Also, there were two holes that had temporary greens in play. If I had known about both of these restrictions beforehand, I may have chosen another course.
Otherwise, course was in perfect condition for a winter day. Lots of sand traps with good sand in bunkers.
Lake course
Got there early. Start put me with two other guys out early one of them knew the course which really helped. Some hidden water and blind drives..
Tee bowed were in good shape (blues) fairways good condition greens seemed a little slow but in good shape.
Drinks after bar was packed but still got waited on quick.
Happy with the course , overall it’s a very nice place
Horrible Management and Organization
Nice course BUT coordination between starter and bag drop area was absolutely terrible and unorganized. Pace of play was atrocious. 3 hour front 9 . Course ranger was no help at all. Traps not raked. Greens not well maintained with many unrepaired ball marks. Nobody accountable for managing issues. Allowed three High School groups to play scramble in early Saturday afternoon. And this was a “Resort Course “? Change management and I might play there again
WAAAAY over booked!!
Driving range closed on Tuesdays from 11 to 2. Maybe close half and half so people can warm up? Just a thought.. Then at the 4t hole (Lakes) literally 5 groups waiting to tee off. Took 45 min. to play that hole. Was backed up the rest of the day. Took almost five hours to play a round. Pathetic. Very frustrating. People were all getting impatient and hitting up on each other.
Great course - and I shot well
I love Red Hawk and anytime we can find a deal out there, we’ll play. After a couple of days of rain, I was concerned that it might be a bit sloppy but it was in great shape. I also shot incredibly well which is a bit of an anomaly. The only thing that sucked was that my buddy just got back from Hawaii with gifts for me and my dad. I left the bag in the back of the golf cart and it was not recovered. I don’t think anyone stole what was in the bag, the people who clean the carts on return probably saw the bag and just tossed it into the trash.
