Pine Lakes Country Club
About
Elegant and upscale at every turn, the 62-room antebellum clubhouse has been a must for photographers since its completion in 1927. When the azaleas bloom in the spring, it was in this setting that Henry Booth Luce's famed "Sport Illustrated" was founded in 1954.
From the white-gloved caddy master, to the on course chef, everything about Pine Lakes is bathed on old-fashioned class and charm. Although the clubhouse is completely private for the club members, at present, arrangements have been made for guest play through a very select group of member hotels. Should you be fortunate enough to stay at one of these facilities, we suggest you make it a point to visit this classic.

Greens are great
After reading a lot of bad reviews of aerated greens with too much sand, I was really worried but those went away on the first green. They were smooth and beautiful so don't let the previous reviews give you any doubt. We will be back next year!
Course is in good shape. Greens are still very bumpy after being aeriated in early July.
Vacation Golf
Haven’t played the course in 5 years and I thought the course was tired looking.
Disappointed in all the cheap housing around the front 9. Made it feel like a public course not a country club.
Aerated greens a week before hand but nothing was communicated on GN App when booking. Pricing for a freshly aerated green seemed high. Beverage cart had been wrecked the night before, bar didn’t serve until 10am so little amenities to address.
GrandDaddy 1927
Totally loved the course layout. Tee boxes & fairways were in excellent shape. The only downfall was that all of the greens were top dressed with sand, which made them impossible to putt on.
The course is a definite recommendation.
Disappointed!
I have always wanted to play “The Grandaddy” so I called up the course a few days ago to make a tee time. I asked if the course was in good shape and the person on the phone replied that the course is in “excellent condition”. I specifically asked about the condition of the greens and again she replied “excellent”. Driving up to the golf course today my first impression was how nice the Pro Shop and surrounding grounds looked. I found a nice FJ shirt in the pro shop that was 40% off. We paid our $77 green fees and headed out to the attendant. We were told we had a few minutes if we wanted to chip and putt. We made our way to the putting green to find what would be a huge disappointment! The green looked awful and barely had any grass on it. I thought surely the rest of the course would not look like this. Sure enough it did!! Not sure what is going on but the greens on this course are in desperate need of a makeover. The Tee boxes and fairways are indeed excellent but the greens are very far from excellent!! I get that your course may be having some issues with the greens but be up front when people call for a tee time. Don’t charge $77 for a $35 greens! I give you the two stars for the tee boxes and fairways and the cart girl! People beware! The course is NOT in “excellent condition” as we were told. Stop lying!
The greens are terrible!!!
The greens are terrible!!! They had sand on all of the greens to cover up the burnt grass.
Yes it would be nice if this course would let you know before playing. Or at least give you a refund.
The staff for the grill was not hospitable. Their only concern was leaving early at 3:00 pm.
I usually play this course once a year for the last 10 years.
Nearly Perfect Outting
conditions, pace, layout, challenge were all ON POINT.
it did start to deluge as i approached the 14th tee. cant control that. between cells i did manage to finish the round
Fairways and Greens
Fairways and greens were in great shape. Greens were fast and rolling really well. Stay below the holes! Only knock on the rating was for not having a driving range but practice chipping and putting grees were true to course conditions.
good condition
the greens were in very good condition, got teamed up with 2 other singles which worked out ok.
Pristine as usual
I always try to play here whenever we come down to get away. For 30 years it has never disappointed.
Perfect greens , crowded but fast play.
Favorite of this trip
First course I’ve played in the area and ended up being my favorite. Course was in excellent condition, from tee to green. Pace of play was perfect. The layout was great and required you to play different shots. Which also made the course play longer than the yardage on the card.
Staff was friendly and made you feel like you were the most important person there.
Overpriced, not worth the money
Based on recent reviews, I was really looking forward to playing Pine Lake. However, the greens were beat up (plus tons of sand on them), the staff was stiff, and pace of play was extremely slow.
Near-perfect day out
A very well organized operation. Beautifully kept, tees to greens. Challenging but not intimidating. Pace was perfect; a fully booked day and I never waited to hit, not was I rushed from behind.
Not Like Usual
Play here every golf trip and this time was different. The fairways were ok but the greens had small weed patches on most that were bouncy and weird. This is not the norm and I will come back again as I enjoy the layout and location and 90 percent of the time the course is in great shape.
Overpriced
Played Pine Lakes today. The greens are in poor condition. This course is part of Prime Time membership. There are many other courses in this group in better condition that charge lower greens fees. I don’t know why Prime Time thinks this course is worth $50+ dollars to play. Staff was very nice. There are better bargains to be had in the area.
