TPC Myrtle Beach
About
TPC Myrtle Beach, designed by Tom Fazio with assistance from Lanny Wadkins, opened in 1999 as the Grand Strand's 100th golf course.
Set south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, the golf course features an abundance of bird life and natural wetlands, which come into play on 11 holes and pine trees frame many of the holes. Tom Watson proclaimed TPC Myrtle Beach an "interesting challenge and a quiet walk in nature."

Nice, but not $130 nice
Played earlier this week while on vacation in Myrtle. I’ll start off by saying that the staff, clubhouse, and practice area are top notch. The course itself was just okay. Not what I expected for a TPC course. Nice layout but nothing special, fairways and geeens were in just okay shape. Cart path only on several holes made for a brutal 5 hour plus round. It’s a decent course but definitely not worth $130. I felt like I paid for the TPC name rather than the course itself. I probably won’t return.
Poor course conditions. Staff are jerks
It was in all honesty maybe the 3rd best of the 6 courses in myrtle we played as far as condition. When you take into account they made us pay for 18 and would only let us play 9, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It is a black eye to the TPC name
Awful Staff, pretty much an average municipal course
Their grounds were OK, really you're just paying for the TPC name. The worst by far of the TPC courses I've played and the worst course we played on our myrtle beach weekend.
Also the staff don't give a crap about the customers, once you pay even if it's a wrong transaction they won't correct it. They pretty much stole $50 from everyone in my group
Living off the TPC name
The layout/design here is very good, but the conditions leave a lot to be desired. The course was soaked, yet it has rained only once in Myrtle Beach over the last 10 days or so (and not since mid last week). Reading some previous reviews, it seems they have an issue with the sprinkler system. I honestly thought the grounds crew left the sprinklers running too long while out on the course today, it was that wet. As a result, no roll on the fairways.
The greens were average in every sense of the word. Some better than others but the general theme was SLOW. They looked faster than they ran. Smooth for the most part, but you really had to hammer putts to get them to the hole. For a TPC course, I'd expect better. Probably running an 8 on the stimp if I had to guess. Fine for a public course, but not for what is supposed to be a top notch resort style course.
All in all, a very average course. The maintenance should be far better than it is, but it's not bad if you can play here for a fair price. Anything more than $70 is too much for this course in its current condition.
Better the 2nd time
First time I played this course I thought it lacked a little something but the 2nd time around I found myself to enjoy the scenery and course layout more
Great Course
We played the course after a couple inches of rain the night before so it was a bit damp but the greens hold up very well. Greens are fast and are in very good condition. The course is a great layout with some challenging holes, but for the most part the course is very fair and a fun course to play without too many stressful tee shots. The greens are pretty well protected with bunkers but you can be rewarded with hitting fairways and greens. Great clubhouse and practice facilities before the round. Would definitely play the course again and recommend to any golfer in the MB area.
way over priced
what a waste of money ok they just poped the greens so does every coarse but every thing else was awful great coarse if you like to play on dirt tee boxes fairways ist cut on greens they asked how the round was when we were done thet said they over seeded just be real and say yea its not great do your self a favor play some where else yea for a 10 hanicap i did not play well but you know when you play a coarse this bad its hard to play well and by the way i dont write reviews often just trying to help out fellow players a huge disapointment
NICE ROUND
Greens, tee boxes, fairways in good shape. The course has good layout and carts have GPS. The man working the desk in pro shop ignored us while he talked on the phone for over 5 minutes and after we asked to play as a twosome, then proceeded to INFORM us that we would definitely be playing with others even with the COVID and with few people around. The starter took the bad taste out of our mouth as soon as we checked in with him.by informing us we would be alone as there was few left to tee off. A good experience even with the A HOLE working the desk.
Beautiful Course
One of the top courses to play in Myrtle Beach. Course conditions were in great shape and the layout is fun. I know it’s hard to find courses to play in the area due to there being so many but this one should definitely be on the list.
Outstanding staff
The course is always in top notch shape as one might expect from a TPC course. However, the staff, especially the starter, went above and beyond. The course was experiencing a malfunction in the sprinkler system and were going off throughout the round and was very annoying to try to play around them and a few times got a good soaking. The starter came over to us on the 18th hole and was very apologetic and presented us with a full 18 hole raincheck. That gesture was totally unexpected but very much appreciated. You guys take customer service seriously and you showed it. Well done guys!!!!!
Less is more
When TPC Myrtle Beach underwent a bunker adjustment and reduction project last year, I wondered how much it would affect the difficulty and character of a course I've always like. I'm pleased that it's still the same ol' challenging but enjoyable TPC Myrtle Beach, and more playable in and around the sand as a result. It still has several tough par fours - 3, 4, 9, 15 and 16 - and a good mix of par 3s and par 5s that help put the course in the upper portion of the Grand Strand's strong second tier of courses.
Very nice course
Although the staff wasn't very friendly and they rushed us out to the tee (we were 30 minutes early) without even having a chance to putt it was still a good day. The course is challenging and was in great shape. There are plenty of water hazards to catch an errant shot but the fairways are fairly big. The greens were recently punched but still rolled nicely with good speed. Pace of play was never and issue as we got around in under 4 hours.
Don't waste the $$
Course was Cart Path Only and it wasn't from rain. They obviously dont know when to turn off the sprinklers. Self flooded course. Greens are top notch but tee boxes and fairways are very spotty and that might be a bit gracious. Layout is what you would expect and hope for from a TPC Course but the conditions are not even close to what you should expect on a tract like this. You can get better for the same price elsewhere.
TPC Myrtle Beach - Fazio Gem is Top 5 Course on Grand Strand
The Good: This Tom Fazio collaboration with Lanny Wadkins & disciple Beau Welling is an excellent option in the greater Myrtle Beach area, about 20 minutes south of the main "Grand Strand". Has a "Poor Man's Pinehurst" feel to it with beautiful tree-lined fairways amidst pine straw hazards and well-placed white-sanded bunkers. Very strong Par 5's and some good variety in the Par 4's with some very challenging and others drivable. The Par 3's are the standout signature holes. Greens hold well and were in very good shape. Very nice clubhouse and now Dustin Johnson branded golf school (he's from the area). Staff was extremely nice and kept us hydrated on a hot spring afternoon. Superb pace of play for a Sunday round. Great value at only $69 in Early June.
The Bad: Fairway and tee box conditions were very dried out and to be desired. Many of the tee boxes didn't really have grass. No GPS on the carts was a bummer, however the course is marked well.
The Verdict: A Top 5 public course in the Myrtle Beach area. One of the better values you will find on the Strand!
Best Hole: While the closing holes get all the credit, I actually loved the second hole, a tough Par 5 that requires precise tee and approach shots to avoid sand to a raised green guarded by water left.
