Tanna Farms Golf Club
About
Tanna Farms Golf Club in Geneva offers some of the best golf that the Fox Valley has to offer. The layout meanders across prairies covered with wildflowers and weaves through lush wetlands. The course begins with the stunning signature hole. The par-3 opener has an island green that sets the scene for this thrilling and memorable round. Although it's a seemingly short course at 6,510 yards from the back tees, what it lacks in length it makes up for with plenty of other challenges. Besides the first hole, there are a few other tough par 3s, including one with a postage-stamp sized green. There are some daunting par 5s as well. Tanna Farms Golf Club is not a lengthy course but the layout is generously spaced to offer breathing room between the holes and the undulating slopes and subtle elevation changes make it pay much longer.

Tanna Farms
Several grewns no grass or it was dead. Some greens had turf laid in dead spots. Some fairways also had dead spots. Worse conditions i have seen at Tanna Farms.
Make sure to find a deal and BRING WATER
A lot of the tee boxes were burnt over with dry grass. There wasn’t a single water station anywhere on the course and the layout doesn’t pass by the clubhouse outside of 1 and 18, a guy in our group was on the verge of a heat stroke. Make sure you bring your own drinks to stay hydrated. Lots of houses in play on the course. Multiple holes that take the driver out of your hand and force you to hit to a landing area. I gave it a second chance but don’t recommend this course.
Great layout, maintenance is sub par.
Love the layout of this course, I do realize it has been exceptionally dry, but compared to other courses in the area it was in terrible condition. The greens were exceptionally slow, tee boxes were all terrible. The various landscape areas around the course looked horrible and the sand traps well it was a guess on how to play it. Love the layout just think that the course is not being very well maintain.
Great course!
I love playing Tanna Farms, it's a great course and for some reason I love that it leads with a Par 3 over water. Only downside is the cart paths which are terrible, hopefully they get fixed soon.(5/29/23)
Same Old Same Old - NO LONGER RECOMMENDED
Anybody who posts a review of Tanna over 3 stars for the rest of the season simply isn't credible. Amenities? NONE. One stinky bathroom in the pro shop is the only place with running water (except for the hose to "clean" carts). Restaurant/Bar areas still closed and locked off - probably to never reopen? TF does not return to the clubhouse until you finish 18. A porta potty at the 9th green and another at the 13th tee. Beverage cart was out (probably only weekends) and we saw it three times.....but the only beer selections are light beer. You read that right....the gal mentioned they also had hot dogs but ask yourself where were they cooked and how long ago? I love old hot dogs and light beer...don't you?
Our cart was pretty messy/sticky and it appeared they were very close to running out of carts. And a good reason for that - might be the incredibly slow play. Our round took 440 and and idiots in front of us took a solid 20 minutes to play the par 4 14th hole....the group in front of them had already driven off to the 15th tee box by the time they even started to tee off on 14. If you're not an accomplished golfer please don't play the blue tees - while the front appears short on the scorecard there's still plenty of trouble. The back nine - that's 3400 yards of multiple forced carries off the tee box. All of the employees were most pleasant....but even if they wanted to they all would admit to a person that there's nothing they can do to improve your experience except to smile. Calling the clubhouse to alert them of slow play - futile -- they have no one to send out to get slow players moving. Everyone behind us needless to say were pretty frustrated....every tee box had a group waiting on it.
No warm up range (Mill Creek range is fairly nearby) and postage stamp with sticks practice green make sure to drive home the point that this course will treat you like crap - as you wait in line to tee off at least you're mildly entertained watching others first swings of the day try to keep their ball dry - yes there is an island green Par 3 start.
The course itself is maintained just enough to be playable.....the sand traps were surprisingly in fair shape - they have filled in a few traps on 5 and 7 and those are nice and weedy. Slow sandpaper greens....and a bit bumpy as well. A ton of tucked flags yesterday - none were remotely in the middle of a green and these pin placements also contributed to the extremely slow play.; Fairways are divot laced hard and fast.....and the first cut, fringes and roughs are ok. The 12th hole is a stupid hackers nightmare of short Par 4 with water everywhere. With the very dry conditions they are also cut down the swamp that crossed the Par 5 13th fairway. So two holes in a row you're still hitting irons off the tee to make sure you have a good fairway lie for your second.
I can't recommend this course anymore. If you send a friend to golf here....they really aren't your friend. Garbage cans were overflowing on almost every hole. Anyone that's in the know brings their own refreshments and snacks. 2.5 stars and I'm being generous only because the layout at least for me is pretty entertaining.
Horrible Staff
I was having difficulty with my reservation (wanted to change to an open slot and add an extra player). When I called the clubhouse whenever picked up the phone was extremely rude and hung up on me. I asked if it was possible to change my reservation at all and he simply said “no” and hung up. It was the least professional staff member I have ever encountered.
Course was in very good shape. The only disappointment was it. The greens really hadn’t been cut very well and we’re very slow. I attribute this more to spring conditions than anything else. Nice Run Course was in very good shape. The only disappointment was it. The greens really hadn’t been cut very well and we’re very slow. I attribute this more to spring conditions than anything else. Nice Ron and very good layout.and very good layout.
Hard time
They didn’t know about tee off and wanted to charge me.
They gave me a hard time about it.
The new management is atrocious!
This used to be a really good course UNTIL Golf Visions took over as management. The tee boxes are in extremely bad condition. Fairways are aplenty with deep divots left over from last years. Ball marks on the greens are still there from last season. The cart paths are full of bumps and pot holes. No, i won't recommend this course to a friend. I recommend the owner to fire Golf Visions and go back to really managing the golf course...please!
Enjoyed it
I have not been to this course in a while I enjoyed it The best part was I putted so much better The greens were great Finally a course that has watered there greens and I noticed they already had eradiated there greens Most courses have not around the area The only thing that I noticed in some of the fair ways had hail bail in them what’s the purpose It looks like there is course waist in them Maybe future sand Traps I will be back when it gets a little warmer The person I n the clubhouse when I got done was very welcoming was able to converse how much I enjoyed the course The morning guy when I checked in was not inviting needs to work on that a bit
Great course
I’ve played Tanna Farms about 15 times this year and it never lets me down. Course is always in great condition, pace of play is good for the most part, staff is always friendly and their prices are Awesome. Will continue to play this course many times a year.
Great variety and very well taken care of
Course is 8 minutes from home and the quality and hole variety of this course is fantastic. 100% worth trying this golf course if you are on the edge on booking a tee time.
