Hunting Hawk Golf Club
About
Situated along the Chickahominy River, Hunting Hawk Golf Club sprawls across a rolling landscape covered with mature trees and dotted with sparkling ponds. The natural wetlands and rugged terrain were carefully preserved. The gentle hills provide contours that are subtle but challenging. The fairways have generous, well-defined landing areas but they are flanked with sand bunkers and sculpted mounding. The undulating greens are also framed with bunkers and grass hollows. Every hole has a unique character that requires a different strategy. Hunting Hawk Golf Club's back nine is slightly tougher than the front nine. It is where most of the water comes into play. The 11th is the best birdie opportunity on the back, it is followed by the challenging 12th, which required a carry over wetlands that many balls have fallen prey to.

really nice course
weather was cold, but the course was great.greens were in great shape, fairways were full of grass, really look forward to playing the course next year in the summer time, only suggestion i have for you is to bring your range finder
Cold day that was....
Good course, would like to go back and play it in temps above 45...it was really cold and windy as well. Price was too good to pass up.
It was not crowded and the course was in good shape.
The course was in great shape other than a few areas were over watered. The clubhouse was clean and in good repair. Thanks for a great opportunity to play at a resonable price!
nice mix of challange and scenery. Will play again
Course is well maintained. they just overseeded for the fall so it was cart path only. Did not deter from an enjoyable experience.
hunting hawk
they had overseeded the fairways and must have watered like crazy .it was very wet
Well maintained track
The course was well maintained, had great customer service and an interesting layout. There were a few blind tee shots that can be alleviated by playing the course again (or with someone who knows the track). Overall, this is a nice course that tends to favor the average golfer.
Great course!
Definitely one of the nicest public courses around. The practice facilities were in great shape and so was the course. Played the day after heavy rain and everything was in great shape. The only complaint I have is the condition of the bunkers. They look like they haven't been tended to recently and are not playable. Otherwise great course!!
Nice layout, super fairways, well-maintained
The course is in fantastic shape. Among the best fairways in Richmond rivaling the private clubs. Challenging golf course but playable for the mid-handicapper. Greens are rolling true though not quick as they look. Fairly priced. We have played here twice in the last month and we are likely to add this course into our regular rotation of Richmond-area courses.
Course in good shape but pace of play was terrible
I teed off around 2:36 pm and it was dark with three holes left...
Great conditions and pace of play
The course conditions were great. Rough was thick but fair.
Despite aeration the day before, the greens were in good shape.
Despite aerating the greens the day before and top dressing them the morning I played, putting was not as awful as one would expect. The course didn't open for play until noon. Having a 12:21pm tee time, my threesome cruised around as if we had the whole course to ourselves. Perfect weather (low 80s and no humidity) added to our satisfaction. The rough was thick but manageable due to the rainy summer. A couple of early birdies set the tone for a great day!
Nice Layout - Good Condition
The course was overall in good condition with the exception of the greens that had too many ball marks that were either not repaired or repaired poorly.
The course is very fair and offers a good variety of holes.
My wife and I will definitely be back.
good value for the price
fairways and greens were in great shape. greens rolled true. overall very happy with everything for the discounted price.
very nice course...some very interesting hole layouts.
I like the course. Fairways are good, greens showing signs of lots of play.
Well manicured and tough track..........
HH was in great shape, the tee boxes and fairways were in pristine condition, even the bunkers(which in the past were an issue) were nice.It would be nice if golfers knew how important it is to fix a divot(with the sand bottle supplied on the cart) and
fix ball marks on the greens which still rolled smooth and held approach shots nicely. The course is a real challenge! Keep it in the fairway though, the rough is thick and tough to advance shots.Course looks beautiful right now!
Beautiful day at Hunting Hawk
It was my first time to play Hunting Hawk and had a beautiful day for it. The course is beautifyl and is in great shape. It is challenging but not overwhelming. I look forward to playing there again.
An enjoyable and challenging round.
The rough was brutal, so accuracy off the tee was a must.
Great in August
I played the course in August and it was in great shape. Greens, fairways, rough, and bunkers all in terrific condition. The overgrown grassy areas dividing holes were attractive and quite penalizing.
Disclaimer - I played the course in April and it was not in nearly as good condition. Best bet is to play in the summer.
Great Layout. Excellent condition.
We loved the course. However, there was a foursome of ladies in front of us that didn't know common courtesy to let us play through, stood in the bunker while mentally counting up strokes, etc. No marshal was present until we made the turn and raised cane . . . the ladies quit after nine. The only conditioning problem was the high rough - think US Open; we lost some balls just off the fairway. WE did have to repair a lot of ball marks - need reminders.
The course is beautiful and just a little attention would make it superb.
Great layout and a very nice practice area
Course was in great shape, greens rolled true, fairways were holding tee shots. Also no issue with pace of play
