Barefoot Resort & Golf - Dye Course
About
Barefoot Resort is one of the Lowcountry's premier golf destinations, offering courses designed by Greg Norman, Tom Fazio, Pete Dye, and Davis Love III. Golf Digest has included the resort in its list of Best Places to Play and it has been ranked as one of the top 100 public courses in the country. The Dye Course is the longest, and toughest, of the four Barefoot golf courses at 7,343 yards. Pete Dye incorporated some of his signature techniques into the design. He has a unique way of utilizing native grasses and throughout the course you'll find his trademark pitfalls that swallow errant shots. Accuracy is essential. The golf course is not only challenging, but scenic as well. Sharing a border with the white sands of the Carolina Bays, the lush greens provide a striking visual contrast.

A par 3 you will never forget! Photo submitted by brennus77 on 05/23/2013
I was very annoyed with this golf course because I was playing when it was 95° and high humidity and the course does not offer any water. The course was in fairly good shape however I was expecting a little bit better conditions for the price of the course.
Good layout with a lot of teeth
Third time playing but it had been 6 years since I'd played it. Forgot how nice the clubhouse is. Truly first class. Place was empty as they aerated 4 days before (and it was 4pm). Really interesting and challenging layout. Some room off the tee but have to get pretty precise on approaches. Wouldn't recommend for higher handicaps. Would be a beast in the wind. Greens were beat up from aeration but I was pre-warned about it at booking and when I checked in and at the restaurant. Staff was all very strong and it was a good experience. Will definitely be back and would recommend to better players or those looking for a strong challenge.
A mental game
Pete Dye just likes to mess with you and this is no exception. From the tees, it looks like there is no fairway out there. There is. Plot your way around the course. The sand was in great condition -- and there is a lot of it. Was surprised by a 5-hour round. Barefoot usually is good on pace of play.
Great Playable Dye course
Our foursome played all 4 Barefoot courses and we were split between the Love and Dye courses for #1. While this is not the unique course that PGA West or TPC Sawgrass is, the Dye design traits are all in evidence but in a more relaxed way. This makes for a still-challenging but more enjoyable round.
Grille in Dye clubhouse much better than the grille in the other Barefoot clubhouse.
Classy experience
Fine course, challenging and typically Dye for which I have to be in the right mood given prevalence of sand for leaked drives.Great clubhouse and professional staff.GPS carts as with other Barefoot courses is a real plus and the course was in immaculate condition especially given that it was January.Quick pace of play as it was quiet. We played on the four round villa stay which was excellent value for money overall.Next stop was Hilton Head and with all the courses we played on HHI in January, it would be difficult to beat the mix, price and quality of this Barefoot deal.
Good Place to play!!!
Enjoyed my round. Course in good shape. Played the first 8 holes in 45 mins. Paired up with another single who was a member there. Really enjoyed our round and the day. The gentleman also bought us a post round beer as well.
One of the best courses at myrtle beach
One of the nicest courses I have played at myrtle beach. Great value when you play on a wed.
Lots of Sand!
This course is great! While I was at the beach, I received an email that it won Myrtle Beach course of the year. I see why. This is a typical Dye course. Some parts of the course are very deceiving. They do have an amazingly accurate in-cart GPS system, trust it. If you hit it straight and accurate it is not very tough. However, if you get errant off the tee, it could be a long hole and day.
Very fair
Course layout is challenging, but very fair. Staff is awesome and very accommodating. Played without a single delay the whole day, 3 hrs and 15 mins.
Visually appealing and well laid out
Course was immaculate, visually appealing, and a good overall test of one's golfing ability
Very hard greens.
Pretty course, well maintained but very hard (firm) greens with tight short grass. Impossible to hold the greens. Good news is you don't have to fix ballmarks on the greens because there are none. Also hard to read.
Very Nice
This course was very nice but extremely difficult. It is probably by far the most challenging course I have ever played. I had a great time but unless you get a package deal it's very expensive.
Great course!
The Dye Club is a great course - play it from the whites for a good course, or if you're feeling on your game, head back to the blues or beyond. Challenging from all levels.
