Located in Little River, S.C., Eagle Nest opened in 1971 and was designed by Golf Course Architect Gene Hamm. The layout is laid out across 250 acres of gently rolling land, rare for a course near Myrtle Beach. The course has been upgraded recently and includes a set of "Perch" tee boxes that play over 8,100 yards, making it the state's longest golf course.

Super senior and player-friendly tee boxes up front have also been installed. This traditional low country layout features not only rolling undulations in it but mature Carolina pines, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful natural landscaping.

Sanded greens.

The course was in decent shape, my only problem was that the greens were sanded.
Everyone was pleasant and helpful, but as always, there's that one employee who acts as if their title as starter makes them king.
I liked the layout of the course, 17 and 18 were the most enjoyable holes.

Fun clean organized course to play

Not a very hard challenging course but great scenery and well run.. from the minute you get to the parking lot they are unloading your clubs, checking you in for your tee time.. starter calls your name, explains the rules of the course and you’re off.. pace of play was excellent and Marshall rides around to see to it…wish there wasn’t as much sand but just bad timing on playing it becuz they recently aerated the greens…we had an early morning tee time so noon or afternoons would be a better time to play… greens still rolled very well and were in great shape… fairways were fine also… good deal for the Buck and the finishing hole is where you should take your group pic… A+ to the staff….

Awful staff

Booked 1:42 tee time , got there early loaded up and on cart by 1:30, the started waived to come down so I tell them are name and tee time and he says we are waiting for 2 more. I said it’s just 2. He then says 4 some at 150 can go ahead of us. I questioned it so he pointed his finger and yelled at me explaining he can do what he wants !! Ladies stay away !!! Will never ever golf there again !!!

Great Value

I don't ay as much as I would like so this is not an expert analysis.
I thought the course was great.
Clean and well kept.
Greens recently ariated and bunkers in good shape.
I played as a single and noone pushing behind me and noone directly in front of me so played at my pace which I believe is rare.
Love the GPS on the carts too.
I'll be back soon for another round.

Everything was great except...

Except for the lady in the club house at check in. Late in the season and had just aerated the greens. Some areas had recently under gone ground work, and there was a lip around most greens. 4.7 out of 5 if that lady was off that day. Course will be spectacular in a couple years.

Fun layout

No ball/club washers on carts, disappointing.
Other than that no issues.

Shaggy Fairways, Blue Fingers

Played this course for the first time yesterday. Price was good and staff very friendly. Pace of play was excellent. However, the fairways are cut at rough height. Even if you hit your drive straight down the middle, no roll out and a “settled” lie for your next shot. Also, greens had recently been punched and top dressed so never a smooth roll for putting. They also sprayed the greens before the round and the blue chemical stained your fingers and got all over the ball and putter.

Will play again!

I came out early afternoon as a single looking to walk 18 holes. I was told I was not allowed to walk because I would slow pace of play so I took a cart. I left after 5 holes because it was painfully slow play. Being a Saturday as a single, this was a main reason I wanted to walk knowing it may be slow and walking lessens the wait between shots. Course was in good shape and I will try another round next time I'm in town.

Great day at the nest

I've played this course many times and rarely have I had an issue.

They have been doing extensive work around the greens and a time or two we had to play around the workers to avoid potential injury.

The repairs done a couple of months ago have grown in well and the greens are in good shape.

This time of year, early play means you have to deal with dew so if you want the dampness gone, don't book before 9...otherwise take a towel to keep things dry as you play.

As usual, the staff is friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Nice Course

Enjoyed the round. Te red tees were often farther than my drives hence the kidding for not making it past the red tees occurred way too often. So pick your group members carefully.. 😀
