The tee shot on #6 requires a rather strong forced carry Photo submitted by Tom on 12/04/2017
I had fun. It was crowded Saturday but the staff was very friendly. The back nine is more interesting. Long par 3s and short par 4s, which was different and I enjoyed the challenge. I thought the greens saw a lot of play. Carts will lose power if driven too close to the green which was a first for me. The course layout may have rerouted since my older Garmin had different hole numbers but the yardage was correct.
This course is not considerate of golfer's needs
They have a GPS system for carts but only use it to monitor cart location. No yardage information is provided. Fairway yardage is shown by markers in the ground which makes it difficult to read. All of this results in a very frustrating and unenjoyable round especially for new players. The management is more concerned with protecting the course than providing a pleasureable experience. Would not recommend this course to anyone.
Short - but slot of fun
The course plays short - with that said very nice condition- greens had a nice pace and held shots. The layout was very nice with sand and water coming into to play on many holes. Great facility to practice your game - driver will be in the bag most of the day!! Great value and will definitely go back.
Way better than what I expected!
Being honest, I don’t normally expect this condition if I pay only 35$. My family really loved this course today. The green was still great condition and decent speed. Fairways and rough conditions were very good. I don’t know maybe the weather was so windy, so wasn’t crowded at all. We had so much fun!
Pretty wide open course
Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were in good shape and putted smooth. Par 3's did test you but we're fun and fair.First time playing and will definitely be back. Everyone with staff was friendly. Very good course.
Great Round at Ventura
The staff is very friendly and the clubhouse is great. They treat you like a member and I play here every vacation to Orlando. The course has 6 par 3 holes but they are not easy. A fun layout with a good bit of water and many sand traps. We stopped after nine and had lunch at the clubhouse which was excellent. Service everywhere is their plan. I like being allowed to drive the carts to your car in the parking lot. The greens were in perfect condition and it would be difficult to find any criticism of the course. Plan on going back again next month.
ANOTHER GOOD DAY AT VENTURA
Played here 3 times so far this winter. Course is in pretty good condition.
Got teamed up with a couple of great guys.
And, I played rather well.
19th hole Happy Hour and fodder are great.
An Average Course
The layout is narrow fairways, odd tee box placements. More of a target golf experience. I would not recommend playing this course unless you have no other options.
Tests your game
Looking at the yardage at Ventura, you think you'll be in store for a nice low round. Be prepared! There are 6 par threes, each with its own challenge, and there are several narrow fairways on the par fours and fives that are well guarded with trees, bunkers, mounds leading down to water - target golf 101! The "little" course presents a "big" test, and when the wind is up as it was yesterday, beware! Although it's not the pristine lush fairways of the high-$ courses, Ventura is in the best shape I've seen it in the five winters I've played it. The greens are especially nice. Pace of play can be slow but it was fine yesterday despite the usual heavy play. Staff was friendly and accommodating, as they always are. In short, "short" Ventura is long on fun if you like to test your accuracy & the price is right.
Course layout not acceptable
Very challenging course, if you play from blue.
Did not like the course layout.
I like this course
The fairways and greens are almost always good on the course...I play several times a year. Some water to carry and canals along most all of the holes....wide fairways and good size greens. The course gets a lot of play and sometimes it can be a bit slow particularly this time of year. If you come alone the starter will team you up with others and sometimes rush you to start before giving you a chance to pitch and putt a bit...I find this annoying but in golf "singles have no status"
Really good greens and fairways. A super bargain at the price.
plenty of course
yardages might look short, but plenty of trouble at this well kept course. Great staff, course in great shape.
GREAT DAY OF GOLF
My first time at Ventura this winter.
The weather was perfect...Course conditions were great.
19th Hole was super.
Great Walking Course
Played on a beautiful Thursday in the new year. About 80 and sunny. Light winds. At the recommendation of the DofG I played the white (middle) tees. Walked with a push cart. Excellent layout for walking. Fairly short course (5850?) from the white tees. Back tees require some good knowledge of the course. Easy to drive thru the fairway. Only 3-4 driver holes. Most 3W or even a 7 iron off the tee on the 265y par four on the back. Be careful with too much club.
Fairways and greens were in great shape. Both Bermuda. Greens hold and roll well. Practice pitching from the southern Bermuda Grass if you're not used to it. Not a lot of undulation in the greens so easy to read putts. They roll true. Super value for the quality of the course.
