Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

Won't play again.
It's almost as if they spent all their money trying to design a premier course for the area and forgot they needed to maintain it. Layout isn't terrible, but it is repetitive and unimaginative. Fairways, rough, greens, bunkers are awful.
Fairways- 1/2 grass 1/2 dirt. This creates a perpetually awful lie even if you're in the fairway. Many fairways had a lot of bare spots to include the 2nd, their "signature hole". It looked like a flood had ripped through and washed a once great hole away.
Greens- never recovered from being airated, still full of holes. Greens hadn't been cut/rolled in a while and it seemed routine to not repair ball marks.
Rough- sometimes better than the fairway. A lot of bare spots with hard dirt/rocks.
Bunkers- Usually the first thing to go when a course is going downhill. They appeared nice. However once you're in them you'll see they only have enough sand to look nice( a mm or two). Beneath that is hard clay making normal bunker shots nearly impossible. It's akin to hitting off of the cart path.
Range- don't bother paying for range balls. 1/2 were cut so bad they wouldn't fly true. Other half barely had dimples.
Overall impression- Course needs new management/funding and overhaul on grounds keeping. I felt as if I played the same holes over and over again, all but one par 5 is a dogleg left that you have to layup because a creek cuts the fairway forcing you to use less than a driver. Majority of the par 4's have a hazard in front of the green and a downhill 2nd shot. 2 200 yard par 3's and 2 120 yard par 3's.
Save you're money and go to Potomac Shores.
Conditions are poor
Front nine was closed without any warning when I booked. Conditions were terrible and tee placement was worse. Pretty cool layout, but the other factors really ruined it for me.
Greens are perfect but..
Been coming 4-5 times a year, as of April 8, 2024 the condition of the green are fine, but fairways are in a very bad shape. Area around the green are unacceptable and hope to see this condition approved in a couple months.
Recommend for the area
I’ve never played this course before. I love it, it was $55 during the week. I did pick a bad time to play because they were scalping the fairways. Which was a little tough. The greens were good a bit bumpy and fuzzy. I did get the first tee time behind the members and the pace was slow. But they were scalping still and working on the fairways so I couldn’t go off the back nine. Practice green was nice and driving range was still on mats. Overall I’ll say I’m going back for sure. If you’ve never played there there’s some big hills (if you go to far it will be gone) and some blind tee shots.
Poor Condition
Course layout is challenging, taking into account it is still colder weather but there is nothing in the fairways to hit off of but bare ground. Other courses in the area with bermuda grass or zoysia still have coverage on the fairways. Greens rolled really well with minimal spots which was the only good part.
Best Golf Experience
Augustine provides the best overall golf experience. From the time that you hit the parking lot to the time you leave, everything is done with the customer in mind. Best starter in the country!! In my opinion, they give you the "Cheers" experience where Everybody Knows Your Name!!
Augustine Golf Course
Great course in a beautiful location. The greens are well kept and its an amazing place to play. If i'm ever in the area again I would definitely play her again.
Course conditions can be better!
Great layout of course! HOWEVER! Been a longtime player of this course since 2012; when the Raspberry Trail courses were premier! In recent years it has went down. So I haven’t played much in recent years. Fairways need work and decent/turf. Greens were a bit bumpy. Hopefully this course will get back how it used to be!
Staff management could be more friendly.
Always been a regular costumer at this course. However since they have gotten new management, he has been unfriendly and off putting.
Best in the immediate area by far
I play all the courses in the stafford/fredericksburg area and this course is by far the best in terms of value for the money. the greens are consistently the best maintained around and overall i enjoy the layout quite a bit.
