Tons of ball marks and lot of beginners with no etiquette on the course
Too many beginners who slow up the game on course. Cart path is badly beaten up. Looks like they are not spending any money to maintain the course. It has become one of the most overpriced for the actual course. Layout has been good for long time but sadly they let this place go. Looks so shabby compared to five years ago.. lot of players have said this course has gone to the dogs. Even the pro shop employees look miserable. Has a sad feel to it. Coyote Hills and Eagle Glen are so much better. This place should take notes of better customer service at competing courses. Lot of kids on course who need lot more practice before going on course. They allow anyone on this course to make badly needed money.
Course is in horrible shape.
Old white guys in pro shop are really bad. They look lost. Course needs better management and maintenance. Amateur central.
No marshall to keep up snail pace
This place has really gone downhill in the past year. Slow pace. Staff is bad.
Twilight
The coarse itself was wonderful… Be cautious about playing after 12:30. Seems like plenty of time however too many slow players caused us to only finish 13 holes. No marshaling monitoring pace of play so you have people taking 5 practice swings, hitting it out of bounds, taking another 5 practice swing, hitting it out of bounds again, spending several minutes looking for their ball etc. I am sure you get the gist…
Cut the grass!!!
Every group around was seen looking for their ball on the first cut next to a fairway.
The grass was super long making a frustrating day with no reward on good shots around the fringe or next to fairways.
Painfully Slow
I cannot express how painfully slow play was over 5.5 hours. It seemed everyone was playing the wrong tee boxes for their abilities. When I talked to the head pro he said I should have expected 5- 5.5 hours. There is something definitely wrong when a course is playing 5-5.5 hours average for a round of golf. Conditions of the course were also poor, teeing grounds were terrible, many of the bunkers were just dirt no sand, the grounds crew mowed the grass just leaving it in big clumps in the rough. It was just sad that such a good layout is neglected like this. I think they need to consider new management. Also it would be nice if Golfpass would list average playing time. I would have never played this course if I new the average playing time was 5-5.5 hours.
Avoid
If you’re a better player player you may wish to avoid this track. Slow play is an understatement my round was over 5.5 hours. When talking to head professional he was not apologetic but instead stated I should have expected 5-5.5 hours. That’s ridiculous and if that’s their average play time, their definitely doing something wrong.. The course layout is good but many of the bunkers were just dirt no sand. Teeing grounds were horrible often no grass. Mounds of freshly mowed grass piled everywhere in the rough. This is definitely a course that has seen a better days.
They booked same tee time twice. The staff in golf shop always seem like they dont want to be working
Can’t stand when golf shops are not that welcoming yet charging a overpriced rate for the experience.
Could be soooo much better
I’ll start by saying this course is great. Fantastic layout and challenge but I’ve had to stop playing there as the pace of play is unbearable. I walked off on the back 9 the last three times as we were already over 4.5 hours by the 13th, sadly the management does not give a monkeys!
It doesn’t appear as though management read these but on the off chance they do, here are some very simple tips to make your customer experience, significantly better.
Quick advice for players too. This is NOT a course for beginners. To be honest, if you can’t play courses with a 125 slope off an 18 handicap, don’t play here. Shooting +100 is not fun for you, your playing partners, or the entire field behind you! Go practice on an easier track and build up to these courses!
So management - 18 holes of amateur golf should NEVER take 5.5hrs! 5 hours should be the exception, not the minimum expectation. I understand you are a business trying to make money, but filling the course with badly spread tee times and zero accountability for pace of play isn’t how you maximise profits.
1. You already pay an employee to give out cart keys outside the pro shop! Place them on the first tee and they can double-up as a Starter to make groups tee off on time. If groups miss their start time it’s on them - Not for everyone else to suffer when they want to squeeze in 20 minutes late!
2. Have 10-12 minute tee time gaps and charge more. Most golfers would rather pay slightly more and play in 4.5-5 hours.
3. Have the cart person take hot food orders to relay back to the half-way house so people don’t stop for 10 minutes at the turn!
4. A course marshal MUST have the authority to make a group miss a hole if they fall two-holes behind. Once I played and the ‘martial’ asked our group to speak to the group in front! 🤷♂️🤦♂️
5. Buy different coloured flags to highlight if the pin is at the front, middle, or back of the green! Your greens are massive and it’s crazy having to drive up to greens just to know where the hole is. This would cost you about $100. I suggested this in the pro shop once and was told - “yeah, we get told that a lot”. 🤦♂️
6. Replace the leadership team with people who actually play golf and understand how ridiculous accepting 5.5hr rounds is!
This really should be a premium golf course and it’s sad to see such simple errors ruining the experience. Please message me back if you ever actual take peoples advice and sort this out!
