Pace was slow
Everything was fine, however, we were playing behind the men’s club and the pace was pretty slow. I would try to avoid playing behind this group in the future. Everything else was fine.
Hot Deals here do NOT include a cart.....
its 15.00 a person for a cart and yes its a tough walk without one. That being said the course is fun and has some real interesting holes.Greens aren't perfect with a fungus or dead areas on a 1/3 of the holes. Some renovation on the 9th hole being done but all in all a fun round with many challenges.Do I think its worth 45.00 for a hot deal(not 30.00)after cart figured in well I had fun but left feeling like I paid the regular rate.No cart girl either.
Always fun
The course has been in better shape, but it doesn’t matter. Course is still fun and staff always helpful. Always enjoyable.
Some great Holes
Nice layout in Northwest Marin County.
Lot's of elevated T Boxes, fairly large greens. #14 must hit extreme left to keep ball in a 15 degree downslope. # 16, par 5 200' elevated T Box, you have a choice of 2 greens, staright ahead green is reachable in two, not so for right green due to trees, but it has 3 tiers to challenge. Was a little disappointed with the condition of several fairways, dried out patches, don't quite understand that because they have a Lake Stafford and a muni supply of water to draw from. Overall a good experience with a full bar and kitchen.
Wonderful Course
Beautiful course and helpful staff. challenging topography makes for a fun day. The only drawback would be the conditions of some of greens....Regardless, it is a course I love to play.
Indian Valley
Play was slow due to players taking lots of time on their shots. The course marshal was very friendly and I mentioned the issue to him. Play did speed up on the back nine but it was still a 5 hour round of golf on a weekday. The course was in great shape, especially the tee boxes. Some greens were bumpy however.
My first time playing the course in a great number of years. The second green on hole 16 is hokey and really unnecessary! The par 3 17th hole has a blind tee shot which also is hokey and unnecessary! Otherwise golf course and the views are pretty wonderful. Overall experience was very positive!
Fun Elevations, Greens in bad shape.
Course layout is fun, with a lot of elevation changes, and some challenging tree cover. Unfortunately the greens were really beat up with pin placements in the worst sections of green. Fairway landing zones were also patchy and torn up.
This is a fun course if they can improve the maintenance. In many cases the greens are very large and the pin placement could be moved to allow the greens to recover and improve playability.
great time
great course. Early morning round. Finished in 3 hours 15 minutes
Indian Valley
The pace of play was good. we finished in 4 hours and 15 minutes on a Sunday.
The golf course is in a very beautiful natural environment.
I booked through golf now and got what I thought was a discounted price, but we were paying full price- so that was a bit disappointing.
Many of the fairways seem to have some issues- like a fungus perhaps? Forcing us to bump the ball.
Unusual but Enjoyable
Beautiful, scenic setting. Some of the holes are on the goofy side - like trees right in the middle of the fairway and other strange design elements that throw off the risk/reward ratio. I imagine if you play the course a lot these things become part of its charm. If you are not really familiar with the course, it can be tough to judge the right placement from the tee, or even the approach shot. Nevertheless, had a great time playing this course - my first time in more than 10 years so it was like playing it for the first time. Also remember enjoying it when I played it once or twice 10-15 years ago. The hole designs are unique and interesting if unconventional, course was in great shape, and we played on a hot summer weekday afternoon and had the place almost to ourselves. Tip: the greens roll straighter than you might think; don't play too much break.
Surprisingly good greens and hilly layout
The course is great fun to play. Well-maintained greens have enough relief and distinct tiers to require a good approach shot/pitch but are kept at a reasonable speed so that a bad one won't cause a 3-putt. The course is short but there are enough dog legs to make long drivers use an iron and keep it interesting. 5 and 9 are great risk/reward holes (driveable, but steep price for a miss!); 16 with a choice of 2 greens is a bit weird and 18, a par-5 that feels U-shaped, will make more sense the second time you play it.
Overall, a really fun course to play and replay, a hilly workout if you walk it, and some of the best greens I have seen for that kind of money.
Indian Valley
Beautiful golf course with rolling hills and elevated tee boxes. Course was in beautiful condition and pace of play was excellent 4.5 hours for 18-holes
Great Course
I love Indian Valley and play here at least 1-2x per month. This time was a bit disappointing though...the group ahead of us had 2 guys, one on whom was walking...our pace was disrupted by this. we eventually joined them because the group in back of us caught up and we didn't want to hold up play. So now 3 of us had carts and one was walking...I don't think this should be allowed, it really changed the pace of the game. Also at the turn the food order box was broken, they did provide a phone # to call in an order, but no cell service, at least not via AT&T. So when we went to order food, we were limited to pre-made sandwiches or a hot dog...not the end of the world, but again disappointing. Neither of these things will deter my going back, I still love the course and one of my favorite in the Bay Area. If you haven't played it, book a tee time today!
