Pajaro Valley Golf Club
About
Originally designed by Floyd McFarkland, Pajaro Valley Golf Club has large Monterey Pines lining its generous rolling fairways. Elevated tees provide scenic views of the Pajaro Valley below. Opened in 1922 and redesigned in 1962 by Robert Muir Graves, the course features small bentgrass greens and four ponds with water in play on three holes. The fourth is one of the course's most challenging holes, a 420-yard par 4 with triple-tiered green. The course also was once the home of former U.S. Open champion Olin Dutra, who spent the last part of his career teaching here.

RUDE GM
GM was rude and disrespectful and short tempered. I will never be back as long as this new GM is working at the course too bad its good course but I will never recommend it to anyone
Getting better ...
This course has gone through some rough times. Last played it in early 2016 after a very wet, windy winter. I would guess they lost approximately 40 very large trees, mostly on the back nine and in the process their irrigation system got torn out from the downed trees. I vowed not to go back. Didn't think they would ever recover....... April 15, 2018....Man what a difference!! Great shape, greens are awesome. Bunkers need a bit more sand but still playable. pace of play was under 4 hours. I can't wait to go back.
Not worth the money
I had heard this course had been renovated a couple years ago and much improved. I'll save you the time and money. The course is just not worth it. Track layout isn't bad but the fairways were brown, thin and had a lot of bare spots. Greens were so so, they rolled fairly smooth but we're very slow. Tee boxes were average at best.
A couple holes have views of the slough which is nice but some of the holes back up against a run down neighborhood. I was a single and got paired up with a threesome. We were virtually the only people on the course (there were 4 others 5 holes ahead) and it still took us over 4 1/2 hours. Very frustrating to say the least.
Overall the course is below average.
Good value midweek
First time was a great time. Course was in nice shape. Not to long so I played from the black tees. Greens lush but a little bumpy due to aeration 3-4 weeks ago.
Hidden Gem
I played this course on a tuesday. Weather was amazing. I know the is a water issue, bu the conditions here were quit impressive. They air-rated the greens but they were still solid. I staff was fantastic and let me know about up coming events and tournaments. They told about charity tournament benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma society sponsored by Sierra Nevada. I thinks its in October. I had a drink before and after my round. Prices were very fair for a golf course. I had lunch, one of their burgers. Just Scrumptious and price was good. The bartender, I think he said his name was John, let me know that they will be staying open for monday, thursday
,and sunday night football games. Food and Drink specials!! All in all I had a great day..not so much my golf game..LOL!!!! I will be back but with fiends:)))))))))
Golfing at parajo
The greens are very fast if you can putt you should be able to make the putting The overall condition of the course is OK needs a little more work make it beautiful again and will keep. golfers at home stead of going to Blackhorse and bayonet rLaguna Seca remember how great parajo was keep up the good work and will get there soon
Greens and fees
I've played here many times over the last 20 years. I love the layout. Awesome views on the back nine. The greens seem to be different every time I play here. Today they were a little bumpy. The nicest part of the round was that there was nobody in front or behind us all day. Where was everyone on a Friday? Maybe they didn't want to pay the $68 to play. As much as I like the course, I think it's somewhat overpriced. I won't be back at that price.
For the Birds
We had no one following during our round, so we could set our own pace. It was not too busy, so we were allowed to play as a pair, rather than having to join folks we did not know. Carts have a convertible windshield...nice feature. Weather was normal for the region: Cloudy & cool a.m., and burnt off to mostly sunny & breezy p.m. Several great views, with a feeling of being on top of the world with vast openness. Fairways are wide, and course if well kept. Cypress trees are great ,too. Driving range on site. No posted/written rules about bringing your own refreshments, and I did not have to change out of my tee-shirt.
Open Course, Forgiving Greens and Great Weather
We come to Pajaro to avoid the crowds in San Jose. We were able to walk right on as a twosome and play a fast 18 holes without waiting. The weather was great, as it usually is. Stayed overcast until 12:30 so it wasn't too hot.
Pajaro Valley rvisited
I had not played PV for quite some time, as I felt the management had let the place deteriorate considerably since I first played there several years ago. They have put a lot of effort into making the course great again, and I was very surprised at the improvements that had been made. The greens are again in extremely good shape and the course is in excellent shape. It was a great pleasure to play there again! I would like to see more specials available to locals and senior players.
Course in Poor Condition!
I have played the Pajaro Valley course many times going back to the early 1980's. Always enjoyed the layout and the reasonable rates but the last 2 visits have been dissapointing to say the least. I played it with friends over a year ago and the greens were in terrible shape, almost unplayable. No discount or warning was given at check-in. This May 2015 we decided to try it again after we had heard the greens wre back in good shape! Much to our surprise the week day green fees had gone up to a wopping $68 with cart $51 to walk. Greens were fair but the rest of the course was in terrible condition. $68 dollars (no senior rates) for this course in it's present condition is a joke! $45 with cart would be more realistic! Go play Crazy Horse Ranch $55 with cart or even Laguna Seca which is also $60+ which is a better layout and in much much better condition.
beautiful views
It would be nice if the course was better marked. It is easy to get lost.
Great Time at Pajaro
Great time at Pajaro this last weekend. The little bit of rain Sunday morning must have scared people off. We teed off at 12:00 and had the course to ourselves the whole round. Turned into a very nice day. The course is in really good shape and the greens the best I've seen them. Only bummer was they closed the bar early so no 19th hole for us.
This course is much improved
I had not played here in quite a while but heard they made some changes for the better and I couldn't agree more. The course is in the best shape I've ever seen or played! The course from the club house to the 18th green are classy and I couldn't say that before. Go back and give them another try or go there for the first time. My partner had never played there and thought is was a very nice and challenging course. Pace of play on a Friday 1000 tee time was great too.
