Maderas
Played the Blues (73.6/137/6670) using Forelinx. Matched up with Jeff, first out playing at a leisurely pace of 4 1/2 hours after a frost delay of 90 minutes. The weather warmed up and was very pleasant by the end of the round.
2nd time playing here, liked the layout, design and conditions even more than the first visit, when I thought things were outstanding.
Hilly course with several tees a good distance from the last green, this would be a very challenging to walk. You cannot get off the beaten path on this layout or your ball is gone and you are adding penalty strokes. However, most fairway landing areas are generous in size, not a super tight course.
The tees were lush overall, just a few par 3's needed divot attention.
The fairways were excellent and played nice.
The rough had good coverage and could be penal.
The traps were immaculate and played well.
The greens are large, undulating and many have tiers. You could easily have a 100+ foot putt on multiple greens on this course. They putted medium fast, smooth and were firm. VERY nice!
The layout, design, difficulty and especially the conditions were all well above average. Many very high end homes are high up on hills looking down on the course, the scenery and the views were both stimulating.
The customer service was excellent, especially Daniel, an Assistant Pro in the Pro Shop. Excellent practice facility that is included with the golf price. Definitely recommended, especially if you can get a deal.
Need to get more active with pace to stay highly rated
Love Arrowood. Great design, value, and playing experience. Yesterday we waited on every shot for 4th hole through 18th and never saw a Marshall. Mentioned at the turn and still didn’t get any love. They need to keep pace (not just time taken per round) to keep avid golfers happy.
Always Great
You can find a great deal Monday - Wednesday for this course. Otherwise, save up your couch change to afford this on the weekends!
Mandatory bagboy fee
Overall good time. Ed, the starter was very nice! Checked in at proshop and was slapped with a $5 per player mandatory bagboy fee. Annoyed with the hidden fee. Maybe maderas should pay their employees better. Course and greens in good shape considering they aerated 12 days prior. Plays tough as always.
Great course w undulations and amazing views
Went on as a single and they graciously allowed me to tee off earlier and join a group. Very accommodating and nice staff.
This course is realy not for beginners!
Every hole always seems to be easy, but it never is !
Fun Course
Super fun track. The only that sucked is greens were punched and sanded. I missed that when I booked. I wish I could afford to play here every time I play. Awesome course. Awesome staff.
good track
First time there, it was a hilly track. Greens were very good. F/ways and tee boxes were good. Definitely on the pricey side. Will think about going back but will shop around as well.
Birthday round with my Son
Had a great day at Madera's celebrating my son's 19th.
We both made a couple bogies pars and a few tweets.
The greens were tricky and fast.. The courses in great condition.
The front nine played a little slow because of a foursome two groups ahead but they quit at the turn... Back 9 in under two hours..
We might make it a tradition.)))
Incredible layout
The course design in the surrounding area is amazing. For the first time experience it was very challenging. Course knowledge would definitely assist.
Great course but a bit pricey
Great area and course lay-out. They do really treat all golfers with top priority. I do believe the cost should be more around the 120-140 range even for non-deals. I would play here again only on a special that brings the cost down 20-40 dollars.
A must to play in the San Diego area
Great course great conditions great staff. A good challenge for any golfer. Make sure t practice you putting as the greens are very tricky
Beyond beautiful. Great, Golf.
First time ever were playing atMaderas.
The staff was great all the way through. The starter sent off a group that wasn’t scheduled in front of us. It was about on hole number seven after we were really cruising along nicely on pace that everything jammed up. We waited virtually every shot from there to the end of the round. Not acceptable, and if it happens again, I will ask for my money back.
Rollicking Fun
While a bit disappointed by the conditions (in particular the fringes - chipping and putting was a crap shoot with sprigs and tufts of competing grasses wreaking havoc), the overall fun factor won out thanks to the rolling, rollicking fairways and elevation changes. Staff were great and ver friendly. The southwest wrap we had for lunch was stuffed within an inch of its life.
Fantastic lay out in the hills overlooking San Diego
Great lay out. Very challenging with lots of elevation change, great bunkering and interesting shots. It was very wet and cart paths only after storms the day before which slowed the round. Would love to play again!!!
First round at Maderas
Regarding course numerous challenging par 4s wind through the Poway canyons. Greens are large with some undulations but run pure. Fairways primarily in front of you just a couple with visual misperceptions making it hard to see landing spots and sharp doglegss require your attention so not to run through fairway. The staff and service was top notch. Pro shop very easy to reach and communicate with schedule changes. Plenty of golf gear avaliable for purchase. Food and bar available as well.
