About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

Good condition
Course appears to be in good condition. Unfortunately lots of water from recent rains. Will be back.
Fun Day
I had one of the best rounds of my life shooting around even-par! The greens were rolling really true, keep up the good work at Bluebonnet Hill!
Course in good shape
Had a fun round. Course was in good shape. The tees were a tad rough, but the greens were smooth and pretty fast. The rough was not bad, and the fairways were generally in good shape. I really like the layout of the holes, they're reasonably challenging and reward good shots and smart play.
Greens still in great shape tee box could use a little help but that’s on the picky side just a lil uneven but other then that no issues.
Great value
This course is in about as good of shape as you can expect for a historically hot summer and cheap green fees. It's firm and fast, some of the holes can get a little repetitive (straight away par 4's), but otherwise, it's not a bad design. Great value course for a college kid on a budget!
Good Time
Nothing Special. but it is a great value and during the week is wide open to brisk pace. I like it because its affordable and I score well here.
Great option with discount
Hadn't played this course in years until recently. It has matured and is easier than when it opened. The fairways are wider, grass has spread and there is less undergrowth now. Not long, but accuracy is needed. The picturesque practice range overlooks Decker lake and the practice green is in good shape. Greens putted fairly. I was surprised the tiny clubhouse had not been upgraded. Definitely a "go" especially with a discount.
good time
had a good time at Bluebonnet. course conditions are solid. greens are consistently good there. fairways are decent and the bunkers are well kept. compared to other courses in the area Bluebonnet is a good value and it's a fun layout. good times.
Fun Round
BBH is in fantastic shape right now . The grass on the fairways has been allowed to grow out a little. The recent rain also helped soften up the course. The greens are rolling great. The staff is wonderful as usual.
I hadn’t played this course in a while because it was hard as a rock. It is in much better shape now and I’ll be playing it more often.
Hot but nice breeze !
I had a wonderful time even though I didn't play great. Played with another gentleman who was much better than I was but we both had fun. He left at the turn, I guess he only had time for 9 holes. The greens were quick but fair, and the fairways were in great shape.
98 degees
Fairways were great, greens were fast. Igloos were full of cold water. Pretty much what you'd expect at this time of year. Staff is always nice and polite. I had a great time, definately warm but you were enjoying a nice breeze. I love the course, I try different paths to the greens for a change. The best part is that it's affordable.
Excellent track
Played 2 years ago and wasn't impressed but now I think this is one of the best public courses in North Austin. Layout is somewhat challenging but the fairways, greens, and bunkers are tops. Thoroughly enjoyed the round. Play was a little less than 3 hours but steady. I will definitely play here again and would recommend this course to anyone.
Great Condition Playsing Challenging
Course keeps getting greener and greener 4th time playing in 3 months greens are soft but fast and in great shape. The only knock I can give is that some of the tee boxes could be leveled out a little more to get a flat feet from ball to feet ( picky statement for $)
Nicely taken care of
The course was in perfect condition, including the greens, which were fast and uniform. I enjoyed it overall. Coming back soon.
Sunday round
A bit of wind but not too much, it was the heat around 98 that caught up to us. Greens were a little fast but that's not an issue. Course is in good shape, pro shop employees are nice and work with you. The people that play here are very nice and sometimes I get to play with someone I've played with before. Affordable and fun.
