Really a shame this course is closing later this year
I had heard rumors that Wicked Stick may be closing so I wanted to play before that happened. My first round was last fall and I liked the course and wanted to play again this spring. I made a mid-afternoon tee time and had the course almost to myself. Fairways are in good condition. Greens are hard and fast. The layout is enjoyable and a few of your tee shots must be strategically to avoid the hazards. Not every hole is "grip it and rip it" as touted.
Overall Wicked Stick is a great value for a Myrtle Beach golf course. Its really too bad they are going to turn this place into more shopping or whatever they plan to do with it. Play it before September!
Unfriendly staff
The course is great and was in excellent condition. The staff was extremely unfriendly and made us feel that we were " bothering" them. I would not play this course again because of the staff.
a bargain at under $50 per person!
Course is a bargain. In very good shape. Staff goes out of their way to help. Even had a closest to the pin game for you. Toughness can be varied by tee choice easily. Fair test for women as well.
It's not just grip it and rip it
It's easy to look at the name John Daly on the front of the building and think that you can just tee it high and let it fly. But Wicked Stick is so much more than that, as a matter of fact the back nine is truly a shotmaker's set of holes. With water that comes into play on several holes you really have to be smart about how you play this course. A nice feature to the course is the varying sets of tees so it can be played by everyone from a beginner to expert and still enjoy your round. Don't get me wrong on several holes you will have the chance to tee it high and let it fly but make sure you bring your A game to Wicked Stick because you will need it to score well
Superb facility.
From the minute we pulled in you felt this facility was top notch, and we weren't let down. From the great welcome the caddy master gave us,to the folks in the pro shop, the starter, and the rangers adding advice while on the course,we were treated more like a private club.Highly recommend this course to anyone coming to the Myrtle area. Was well worth our drive from Cleveland.
