The greens are starting to look good.
When I arrived at the pro shop I felt as if the person behind the counter did not like the fact that I had booked the tee time on Golfnow. Based on the fact when I asked if no one is waiting to tee off could we tee off a little early after we hit some balls at the range.
He said no, people buys these cheap tee times and then show up and want to tee off early can't do it. I said I understand, it does not look very crowded today but we are going to hit some balls first.
He replied I guess it will be ok if no else is ready to tee off.
It seemed to me as if he was doing me a favor to let us play the course.
Golf courses seem to hire the most arrogant people.
Course good shape even with major storm
Course in good shape, but unfortunately a hug rain storm passed through the night before and soaked the course. Course management drained the course with an hour delay on all tee times. Course was still pretty wet.
great challenging course that is fun to play
great conditions, good people, good pace, good value.
Beautiful Layout and Challenging
Enjoyed the course very much. It is in excellent condition. Greens are rolling quick and true. We did have some weather issues but the staff handled it well. Looking forward to returning and playing again.
Eagle Point Golf is truely enjoyable!
rolling terain with tall pines and extrordinary water features
BEST VALUE ON GOLFNOW
Played on 4/19/13. Greens were super fast and pretty.
about 2 greens had some minor issues but still rolled fast. Overall this course is in fantastic shape and is a great value.
Fairways nice - the staff is really proud of the condition of this course.
What a find. Best course in Houston area
Eagle Point was an exceptional surprise. The course is in pristine condition and the layout is challenging. The terrain changes are Tennessee like. Completely different than anything in the area.
I have played this course many times, this was the worst shape I have seen it in
Not happy with the shape of the golf course. Fairways average,greens-less than average.
not your typical Houston area course
Elevation changes, narrow fairways, lots of water in all the wrong places, a windy day makes for a difficult day on the course. This course requires that you place shots correctly if you want to have any chance to score. There are some excellent holes number 16 and 18 are the two that stand out most in my mind. I hope it will be a bit easier the second time around. Bring your A game and enjoy!
One of Houston's best kept secrets.
As expected, my recent round at Eagle Pointe was very enjoyable. Pace of play was excellent, but it was Easter morning, so the course wasn't as crowded as usual. For those who haven't played Eagle Pointe yet, the course layout is geared towards accuracy and good decision making, not just long ball hitters. I tend to hit lots of 3-woods and hybrids off the tees to put the ball in good approach positions. If only I could putt...
Super fun. Love the greens.
I really like this course. It's a fun challenging layout that requires all shots in your bag and some you don't depending how far into the trees you put it. The elevation changes are refreshing as it can be kind of flat in the area. The greens are fast and roll true. If you haven't played out here you are missing out.
A hidden gem that is always a top value.
Eagle Pointe has long been a favorite of mine. For the rate, I believe it is the best golf value in the Houston area. The only issue with the condition on this day was that they had just sanded the greens the week before. A totally acceptable condition that you just have to be OK with. Even in this condition the greens rolled quite true. I brought a buddy that was looking to play Cypresswood Traditions instead that day, and he agreed that Eagle Pointe rivals that level of course. Now combine the course level with a $50 weekend rate vs $80 at Cypresswood and it just makes it very hard to go elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and give Eagle Point a play. Mount Belvieu is not THAT far out of town.
Spring Prep in Progress
This is a great layout with very fast play. We got around in less than 3.5hr! Crews were out in full force... it looks as if they punched and sanded greens a few weeks ago and they are starting to come back. Greens are rolling smooth and will be even better going into March and April. Actively punching the rough at this point, and sanding fairways, not of which impeded play. Looking foward to going back in a few weeks once growing season starts, this course will shine.
Nice elevation changes. Beautiful course.
Great deal, this course is well maintained and pose an enjoyable challenge with towering pines and daunting dog legs. Loved every minute of it. Views are breathtaking.
Greens were punched, but ball rolled very well.
Greens were punched, but ball rolled very well. Still a tad wet from recent rains but ball never plugge in fairways. We play on a Sun., price was a little high but the course was in fine shape. Go Play at this Grand Layout, it is in it's prime..
Great course
The course was a little slow today because of all the rain, but it was still in great shape
First Class Facility & Personnel
Bent grass greens done right! I learned to play golf on bent grass greens at a fine course in Missouri. Moving to Texas I found Bermuda grass greens a more dominant choice for most courses. Eagle Point is exceptional in many ways, but the added bonus of bent grass greens coupled with the narrow, twisting, hills of a meticulously maintained facility and course staffed by professional people is a winning package. We will be back as often as we can find the time. We hope this "secret" gem will remain undiscovered for a time so we may enjoy many more visits in the months to come.
Fun course
Challenging course. Greens were nice. Rolls well and true. Fairways could be better, but it is winter.
Pace of play was slow. Numerous issues with carts. Hopefully the situation will improve once they receive new ones next week, as I hear the starter say.
Having said all of the above, the course is far away for most houstonians. I would surely go back but for the remoteness.
Most underrated course near Houston
Great course and very challenging. Cons: Far from Houston, takes me around 40 mins from downtown; greens are not slow, but prefer faster (although faster than most courses in Houston), carts are old (but was told they are getting a new fleet of carts next week); pace of play is a little slow pretty much every weekend I've played here. Now the Pros: Great challenge and an overall fun course; lots of elevation changes that you will not find in the majority of Houston courses; well maintained and friendly staff; very reasonable prices.
Summary: I've played almost every course in Houston and surrounding areas and this course is in my top 5. My score will not reflect this, but I enjoy every time i can make it out here.
About me, playing about 10 years, handicap currently around 9, had it as low as 4 a couple years ago.
love the elevation tee boxes
Very nice course and will always come back to play it.
