It’s Baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!
Night and Day from a Year ago. On Southern California Golf Community I heard it was Back. This New group who took over is doing a great job. Pro Shop what a great staff. Tee Boxes were 8/10 (people sand your divots), fairways 8/10, rough 7/10, greens 7/10 and POP 10/10. The Views are unmatched. They still have room for improvement but they are definently heading in the right direction. Thank You for bringing this GEM back to life!!! They also have a driving range I believe is open into the night. There is a new putting green that Just opened up (what I was told) and still needs work but like everything else they are making major improvements. I have no problem paying green fee’s knowing its going back into the course. KUDDOS to you Glen Ivy.
I Would Recommend Playing here With a Caveat
The course is definitely returning to its old shape. The fairways are tight and in great shape. The rough is green, but inconsistent in places. The greens aren't as bad as they were previously, but aren't quite there yet. The green speed is definitely increasing and they run fairly smooth. The putting green is in horrible shape, so you can't really warm up for your round. The course is worth playing now, but not at $70.00. I paid $55.00, and thought that was fair for the overall conditions. You can tell that management is finely realizing what a great course this can be, with just little work. As always the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Keep hoping it will get better
Pre-pandemic this was one of the better tracks around. But they have struggled the last couple years. Old management has seemed to have run this track in the wrong direction, and let it get worse when they found out they were going to be taken over by JC Golf. The greens have had their share of issues the past year or 2, especially on the front 9. On this day, they seemed to have gotten a little better than a couple months ago, but still need some work. The recent rains have left the fairways damp and muddy in many spots. One employee also said a irrigation pipe had busted and not repaired. And they're currently somewhat overgrown and long with different varieties of grass, making them difficult to hit off of in spots. And the pace of play was bad on this day, 5 1/2 hours for 18. Tee times were running about 15 minutes behind on this day due to a small tournament. Marshalls were out, but didn't seem to care much about the tournament slowing things to a crawl. Talking to some of the course employees the last couple rounds, they seem to be happy about the new management in place and hopeful that this course will finally turn the corner and become the track it was pre-pandemic. Let's hope so!
Enjoyable Round
Played here midday on a Thursday.
Pace of play was good. Got around in 4:10 as a foursome.
Staff was friendly.
Course was in pretty good shape. Yes, a few greens are still a little rough. That being said I was impressed by the improvements made in course condition over the last few months. Two of the greens that were in bad shape six months ago appear to have been repaired and are in very good shape, leaving a few greens, 3-4, that still need some work.
I’m looking forward to playing this course again and would recommend it to others. Not sure I’d pay full price just yet, but they usually have a few discounted tee times available.
Greens need help
Overall this is a great course. Over the past year I’ve played here a handful of times and every time the greens have been patchy with a lot of dead spots. This is the only thing holding this course back. Also when it’s over 100 degrees and no beverage cart coming around.
Liked playing here
Amazing back9
Great layout, beautiful scenery. Friendly service
So much fun after all!
I can't wait for them to finish working on the greens,
Sadly going back to being horrible!
Sadly this place is going back downhill fast. Was coming around for a little bit played about a month ago and it was in alright shape but this last round was bad. Fairways are alright but the greens are absolutely terrible. Idk if they need new management, owners, or a head groundskeeper who can get this place back to how it should but for right now DONT WAIST YOU TIME AND MONEY.
Glen Ivy Struggle
Had a good game, but too many greens are still in disrepair
Good course with horrible greens
The good
The course itself is great. Layout. Scenery and amenities
Hole #18
Fairways
The bad
Some tee boxes are in rough shape but tolerable
The ugly
Greens. All greens are plagued by some disease or fungus and are in a state of repair. Crab grass growing, sanded, and a lot of them simply not worth putting on. We picked our balls on probably 6 out of 18 greens and didn’t even bother
It’s a shame to see otherwise a lovely track to be this bad. Right now it’s only good for practicing your tee shots and approach shots.
Glen Ivy Golf Club
I played this course about a year ago and it was a good experience for me and my friends.
This time several golfers made comments about how the greens were in fair to poor condition.
I found that the greens appeared to have been recently punched with several sand spots on your putts. The back nine par 3 {#16 I think} is under repair. According to the company doing the work is the hole is going to have more grass / fairway added.
Golf holes #17 & #18 Very challenging and exciting to play!!
Beautiful course
Hidden Gem, tucked back in the canyons.
Greens were really nice! Once they dried out, they became fast. Definitely coming back again!
Not worth the money.
My wife and I are in the LA Are from Texas and decided to play Glen Ivy.
After paying $99 per person we were very disappointed. The lost almost all greens and fairways earlier this sommer and it is in bad shape. Give it a year and maybe it will be better.
Sad that that are charging $99 for what they have but I guess they are trying to make up for their earlier losses.
Go elsewhere. Not worth the money
It’s getting better.
Greens are improving. From the last time I played out here (6weeks ago). The course is much improved. Pace of play was issue as a group of six was playing in front of our group. No ranger in site. Looking forward to playing here again!!
Course layout is fun butttt
The course layout is actually really fun with elevation changes and views. the waterfalls on some holes added a nice view butttt conditions were below avg some greens were in ok shape but from tee box to green it was patchy and seemed to be under repair all over. pace of play was absolutely terrible. 2 groups ahead the guys were playing in a 6 some we let the staff know and nothing was done. They have GPS cars so they can see the back up in the pro shop and nothing was done. We drove from a decent distance to this course added with our experience it was definitely not worth it.
The "It was nice" course...
This place was awesome, now dog track.
Greens are terrible, fungus patchwork with dead spots all over. Tee boxes were terrible.
This is not worth the money and very sad to see a great course being abused by greens keepers.
