Greens still need time
Course is great but most greens are still under repair. I was really disappointed, I wasn’t expecting them to be in that kind of shape.
Great Course - Terrible Greens
I read the reviews before I booked at a $40 rate. The negatives were pace of play and the condition of the greens. Those gripes were both accurate. We were backed up on the tee box on every hole for the entire round. The greens were in terrible shape; overgrown and slow as well as extremely patchy with barren areas. I enjoyed the course layout and tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. Probably worth $40, but not a cent more.
Need work
This used to be the best course around.
Lately the course has taken a huge dive.
So much potential
The layout of this course is awesome. Some awesome holes but the overall playing experience was ruined by awful greens. Probably some of the worst greens I’ve played on. Not worth $80+ for 18 in these conditions. If they fix the greens, I would pay $100 without a complaint because the layout and design of this course is so cool
Greens
Liked the course layout and scenery
The greens were extremely slow, need to roll and cut.
In several places the fairways were over wet and ground was soft producing no bounce at impact.
Overall it was enjoyable thou and I would recommend playing it.
Mudpit
Course is in terrible shape. Greens are extremely bumpy with rot and clumps of sand. Fairway drainages is a problem causing multiple muddy areas and sinking. My ball plugged 1 inch below ground in grass/mud to where I couldn’t see unless directly over it. I lost a ball in the fairway from a mud plug on a different hole. They should stop collecting $40 to play here and shut it down until all the debri, mud, weeds, uncut grass and greens are fixed.
Pace of play
Kept getting rushed by the Marshall only to keep catching up the group in front of us. At one point he said to play best ball when we didn't need to. Totally took us out of our game. The greens were very rough too (it's the aeration season I know)
6 hours round
it was the worse round that I had ever played at Glen Ivy. it took 6 hours! I understand sometimes course will be crowd. However, the course staff should help to maintain the pace of play. We had 2 groups of 4some in front of us who were at least 2 holes behind. We expected the staff would help to talk to them, but nothing happened. In back 9, few holes we had 3 groups were waiting at the tee box. it was just horrible.
Nice course
I booked a tee time, then read reviews! The reviews reported the course had suffered from fungus but I already had booked a tee time. So i decided to make the best of it! ! The facilities were very nice and the staff were very friendly! The course was still suffering some patchy areas and the greens were sanded and slow. But overall I really enjoyed the course and the day! The course is recovering nicely, so I’ll give the ground crew a lot of credit!👏🏼 Great course! I recommend it!!!!
greens are sandy
fairways are not bad, but greens are unplayable. like putting in sand. will totally mess up your putting game.
no water to drink, except the cart.
AWFUL
Read the other reviews. That was the last chance for me…live in the area and it’s obvious that they doesn’t care. Took 3 hours to play the front 9 on a course that has greens that are unplayable and the management response was basically oh well. If you don’t care then have at it because they don’t either….
looking good
big improvement from the last time we played, the course is coming around.
