Antler Creek
Course is in pretty good late season shape. Greens were firm and fairly fast. Fairways had a few baring spots.
Tough course!
This was an extremely difficult course, and I am SO thankful we didn't walk it. It would have been impossible to have any energy left by the time you got to your next tee box. Skinny fairways, and no signage or course maps available unless you were using an app. Not to mention there were multiple pin placements that were a mere two to three feet from the edge of the green. I'm glad we were playing with someone who had played there before. The greens were in terrible shape, and there were too many places to count on the fairways under repair. Yes, it's late in the season, but there isn't an excuse for overgrown sand traps. There was no announcement from the starter, leading to a pile-up of players at the first tee. I will not return to this course any time soon.
Getting better
Front nine was horribly slow. Back nine record pace. Conditions have improved from last year especially the greens. With a "hot deal" it was a fair price.
Would Play Again
This course is east of Colorado Springs in the sage country. The fairways are fairly wide, but challenges are built in the contours and sand hazards. This is a long course and walking would be difficult for pace of play with other players having carts.
All employees were friendly and helpful.
The value for price was very good.
No cart amenities so bring your own water/beverages and cooler.
Challenging course
Course is is good condition. A few places where dry weather affects the play. Bunkers are very hard. Greens are fair and fast. Not well marked. GPS or a range finder are essential. Great value for the money.
Great value for the area
Course conditions are good this time of year. Greens are mostly really good and true compared to other reviews. It really just depends on what time of year you play here. I like the course layout and there are several tees to play from. 8k yards from the tips if you want to torture yourself. Solid golf course.
getting better?
Played here a few times previously. The condition of the course is somewhat erratic over the 18 holes. Hit and approach on one to about 15 feet and had to putt through about 3 feet of dirt. Made little sense in that patch of dirt was by far the worst on the green. Whoever cut the cups had a bad day, as that was not the only bad position on the course. Most greens were in pretty good condition, some tee boxes were just terrible with vegetation that was more weed than grass. The course is interesting and probably more fun the more you play it.
Margaritas at the bar were awesome.
Much better than earlier this year
Credit to the grounds crew greens and fairways were 10 times better than in May
Lost Potential
The conditions of this course are a let down. You can see this courses potential to be phenomenal. But, you have to maintain a course for it to live up to this potential. Not going back after a few attempts to see if they make the effort. I’m out.
Beautiful
Beautiful views of Pikes Peak. Great course and many challenges
Great Day
The course is set so you have a perfect view of Pikes Peak. Each fairway has many challenges with bunkers, water, and angles. The greens are in excellent condition.
Saturday afternoon
Playing on any course on Saturday is probably gonna have slow play...
A. No starter or Marshall
B. Greens in good shape but slow (a couple greens had major damage). C+
C. Fairways C-
D. Bunkers F-
Course narrow & challenging!
Getting Better, But Still Not There
Except for #1 green, the greens this year are 100x better than last year. I honestly think they need to put #1 on a temp green and just work on it. It will never get better with people constantly walking on it.
Fairways, rough and bunkers still need lots of work. There are bare spots everywhere with just dirt and mud. The bunkers are all super hard, compacted sand with rocks and weeds growing in them.
It's almost like their only maintenance plan is just cutting the grass. Why not throw some seed / sod down on the bare spots and rope them off to allow them to grow? Don't need to do the hole course at once, a couple holes each year.
Other issue was lack of water on the course. Yes they have two bathrooms where you can fill a bottle. But they have stopped putting water jugs on the course. Not a good thing when it's 90 degrees.
Saw the beverage cart a couple times. And staff was friendly as always.
With the greens improving I'll be back later this year, but still don't think it's worth the money they charge to play.
Nice course
This course was in excellent condition, played well. One thing that was horrible was that it is mid-July and there was not any water available at the water stations, they were not set up at all, so not just empty, no cooler with water at all. There was one beverage cart, so not adequate hydration options when you only see her twice the whole round. The other thing that is terrible about this course, it that there are only two bathroom facilities available on all 18 holes, one on the front and one on the back. This is terrible being a female, as squatting on the course is not very lady like. Men can find a bush, but even that is not great as there is housing around the entire course. Other than these two things, it is a nice course.
Improved, but still bad
Although this course has improved 100% from this spring, still has a long way to go. Of course, this course is always bad early on and only gets nice late August and September.
