Condition of course
If it wasn’t for the excellent deal from Golf Now, I would be upset. The course condition was great except for the greens on these two courses. They had been aerated with an excessive amount of large holes and were filled with sand. Way tooooo bumpy to putt on or to chip. The greens need to be rolled to smooth them out and make playable. The greens on the Links course were fine. This has always been an excellent course!
There are three nine hole courses there, each very different.
The "Mountain Course" had a variety of challanging holes, & was great fun even though the greens had just been areated & sanded. I was disappointed that the "River" Course was closed. So, my second nine was the "Links Course". It was less challanging, and the red tee box for second hole was poorly marked. But all in all, it was an enjoyable experience.
Beautiful and Challenging
Bring extra golf balls with you. The course is tight in some places and it swallowed up a good number of my golf balls. The greens were undulating and consistent speed. A lot of fun putts! Very enjoyable course play.
Great Challenging Course
Love this course. Played River and Mountain. Both were in great shape. Strategically placed sand on the River and many hills and slopes on the Mountain make this a fun but challenging course. Great greens and very nice staff in the pro shop, on the course and in the restaurant.
What a treat!
When I saw this come up in GN as a $20 hot deal, I couldn't resist - I honestly thought it was a mistake because every other Tee time was $89 - 120!
Upon driving thru the winding hills and valley coming up clubhouse drive, you finally round the bend and get a grand view of the spectacular clubhouse, amazing pool, and properties on it.
Check in was a little wierd, because I followed the bag drop signs around the clubhouse, then where the bag guys and drop was located, was packed with carts from groups of golfers making the turn or getting drinks in the clubhouse etc. It felt like I was not supposed to be driving there, but the bag guy assured me I was, it was all the golfers parking their carts in the drive that were in the wrong. I dropped my clubs, went around and parked, then came into the clubhouse to look around and check in.
Loved the vibe inside the clubhouse, as this is an Arnold Palmer joint thru and thru. Lots of cool golf history hanging on the walls, photos and memorabilia etc. The restroom/locker-room was very very classy.
Checked in at the pro shop, Cole was very nice and gave me a little chat about the course etc. It's a set of 3, 9 hole courses, each with different layout, views and challenges - that's when i found out I was playing 27 holes on a PGA caliber course for $20! The pro shop was very well stocked and the prices were very reasonable (surprisingly!) The restaurant and bar was very nice, with a big covered porch overlooking the splendor of the valley and pool etc. -see pics - Jumped on my cart and followed the signs to start my day on THE RIVER course...
I'll just summarize the first nine as amazing - the conditions were prime and the course was immaculate - layout was very fun and challenging. I felt like a kid in a candy store! I had a tough time getting my head in the game because I was busy gawking at the views! After my first 9, we decided to jump in the pool in between hitting the next 9 (it was almost 90 heat index) The pool was SUPER clean and refreshing! (it cost $5 to swim - I had to walk up to the clubhouse to use the ATM to pay though - they didn't accept card at the pool cabana/snack bar)
SO WORTH IT! my daughter and I lounged in the pool for a good hour before deciding to get back at it! almost forgot I was there to golf! It was sooooo nice and the view from the pool is heaven and pure luxury. The only detraction was the changing room/restroom at the pool - it was surprisingly disgusting! They need to bleach that bad boy because it reeked like an outhouse and the floor was GROSS. no excuse for this huge blind spot - management needs to scrutinize this area.
So on to the MOUNTAIN 9 - driving the cart a short way thru condo village, we reached box 1, and again the views and layout was stunning...and it just keeps getting better from there - every successive hole was more spectacular than the next - there are some very dramatic canyon shots down the mountain, and a few going back up and down some big elevation changes. Another amazing hole was #5 - what a fun beauty!
You tee off blind on this big, high par 5, and when you're coming up to your shot
you see an incredible view...a giant staircase leading 175 - 200 yards downhill to the green- if you can thread your tee shot down the middle with no fade/draw, you could feasible run it all the way down to a short approach!
We loved this outing and will be back for sure!
Great layout
Clean, green great shape. 25 anniversary. Food &pro shop discount
Challengong Course with great ammenities
I have played this course at Lake Of the Ozarks numerous times and am always pleased with the courteous staff and conditions of the 3 courses. The clubhouse amenities are excellent. I am especially pleased with the pace of play and am always finished in 4 hours or less. Even the members of this course are friendly and welcoming to green fee players. I would highlyrecommend this course to anyone visiting the Lake Area!
Quite fun!
Played Mtn-River. Wet because of rain night before. Mtn is exceptional with plenty of elevation changes. River had a good variety of holes but relatively flat as expected. Course was in great shape. Had a great time and received super service coming and going at the bag drop.
lack of management supervision
If it's just golf, and nothing else, this is a good golf experience.
The proshop is stocked with up to date inventory.
The snack/restaurant area is good and very well run. A hamburger buffet at the turn gets you back on the course.
But, if you want a drink while on the course, your options are to enjoy the coolers at the tee or hopefully get a visit from the drink cart. The drink cart is my only rub. In 18 holes we saw the cart once. We called the snack shop and they said there were two carts on the course. We did see one on a different nine but none came near us. But having played golf for many years my experience is that the drink cart person kinda supervises themselves. They like to hang near the clubhouse and call it a day when they get bored or slow. Customer service isn't high on their job title. And if courses won't let you bring your own cooler then they should make the on-course bev cart a major priority. Tell the cart person how important their job is and make it such that the players feel the attention of good service, It will be repaid.
Thank you and keep the course in great shape.
Great Course/Great Condition
All three nines at this Palmer course are above average in layout and condition. The Mountain /River is an excellent combination. The conditions are very good this year from tee to green and the greens are excellent. They hold your shots into them and roll very true and quick. A really great golf experience. ($2.00 drafts in the clubhouse after the round are ice cold and served by a friendly staff.
Fun course for the right money
Great course when you don't pay full price. Seems if you don't book on golf now the associated at the course are a little more friendly. May be perception but the check in when I pay at the course vs GolfNow is substantially different.
